Severe Abdominal Pain On/Near Left Ovary
I suffer from frequent and severe pains on my lower left side. I've seen multiple doctors about it and have even had a laperoscopy done to see what's causing this pain. It is undiagnosed and the only thing I'm told is that I suffer from painful ovulations. I don't agree with this for two reasons. One, I went on birth control 3 years ago bc my gyno said it would stop my ovulation and stop the pain. Well, the pain persisted so I got off of the patch 2 months ago bc I want to try to get pregnant in the next 6-8 months. Second, I get the pain every 2 weeks or so even when I have my period. How could I be ovulating that often? I have a regular period every 28-30 days that lasts about 5-7 days. The pain is so severe that I can barely walk or stand up straight. No amount of pills stops the pain and it lasts for several days at a time. It is a constant and severe pain that usually ends with an unbearable surge of pain and then soreness in that are for a few days after. It even hurts to breathe and the way people describe contractions, that's how I feel. The doctors have given up on me and my test results always come back normal. I've gone to the emergency room several times bc I've been doubled over in pain that is unbearable. Can somebody please help me figure out what's wrong with me? It can't be normal/acceptable to live life with this kind of pain and no answers as to why...
Im in the same situation right now, today makes the 4th day, every test comes back clear,, nothing on x-ray nor ultrasound but one small cyst on left ovary....They keep giving me meds in which Im tired of taking,,, they tried TO say it was muscle spasm in which I knew was a lie.. but they still dont KNOW what needs to be done so they told me to call obgyn cuz they got specialist,,,,so in my mind Im thinking what the he'll are yall.... Still hurting writing THIS but the meds they prescribed are not even working.. Im up at 2/3 in the morning crying in pain... Gota quit my job cuz I cant work due to this pain.. cant even barely walk...

But thats hard to do and the pain is twice as bad after sex. im glad not to be alone in this. My husband says its cancer bbut all the tests come back negativve for it. I have 3 children and want to see them grow up so i want to figure out what this pain is

I went to the GI doctor and I have functional dyspepsia. My colon is slow so it makes me gassy. I need to get a colonoscopy to make sure there isn't any inflammation. I have to take a fiber that doesn't cause bloating. I'm trying citrucel. There are others types that don't cause bloating or excess gas. I hope this works. I have to take it every day for the rest of my life. I hope I also lose weight. I have been so gassy and bloated I kept gaining weight no matter how much I workout. I even worked out twice yesterday and still gained weight.
I'm 32 and I have really bad gas. All my doctors just brush it off and tell me to eat more fiber. I eat more fiber and it helps a couple days then the gas becomes worse after several days. My gas has gotten worse a couple days ago. I had a sharp pain in my left side after eating lunch it was really bad. I started to feel better but still bloated. This morning which is two days later I had sharp pain on my left side. The doctors thought it was my ovary and not gas. I knew it was gas because after I ate my food wasn't digesting and I had pain in my esophagus. I felt like I had to vomit just to release the gas. Long story short they did a sonogram and it wasn't my ovary it was gas that was pushing on my left ovary. Now I'm going to go to the gastroenterologist (GI) doctor. I noticed a lot of people are experiencing the same thing. One thing that helps with the gas is blueberries. I'll let you know what I find out. Stick to your guns when you know what is happening to your body. It is the only way we can find out what is happening.
I am 13 years old and have the same crippling pains that you are describing. My OB/GYN has said it is the releasing of the egg and has also put me on birth control but, it continues to hurt. I just had an attack today in PE where I doubled over and started crying. It seems like my pain either happens on it's own or it is sometimes exercise induced. I am in good enough shape, not overweight is what I mean. I am undiagnosed (in my opinion) as well. All of my tests that they did at the hospital came back normal. They want to rule out Endometriosis but I think it's a likely candidate but I am still young so that's why they are ruling it out. Though, I just read about a condition called Diverticulitis. It's symptoms are lower abdominal pain...it says it can come on suddenly and last a while or that it can come on gradually and last for multiple days. Dont't worry, I have the same. I have had this twice now. Once about six months ago and it lasted for 8 days. I just had it again last week and it lasted 9 days. It always begins with vomiting for 1 day and being sore as hell for the remainder. I have gone to emergency each time as I cannot walk or lay down or sit or sleep. My back muscles and pelvic muscles feel so sore that it hurts to pee or breath. Each time they cannot find out what it is, but send me home with the percocet or Tylenol 3's. Another girl I met said that she had the same symptoms and the doctor told her it was a inner ear infection and they cant do anything about it. Good Luck to you.
That was my problem for years. I always figured that I just had really bad cramps. One trip to the ER and a CT Scan told me otherwise. I had a 9 cm cyst on my left ovary. In the back of my mind I think I knew the truth.
I had to have a six inch incision in my bikini line to be able to remove it. She told both my husband and I that it was so bad that it would probably be a problem for the rest of my life.
This is so hard for me to talk about. She thinks I can still have kids, and I'm pretty sure I still can.
I felt really alone and in the dark during this process. My pain from this surgery which I had about 5 weeks ago isn't fully gone. I don't want you to feel alone in this way.

I have been having the same thing, and have searched and searched. Finally I found something besides the usual IBS that makes sense for all of our symptoms. :D
What are endometriosis symptoms?
Most women who have endometriosis, in fact, do not have symptoms. Of those who do experience symptoms, the common symptoms are pain (usually pelvic) and infertility. Pelvic pain usually occurs during or just before menstruation and lessens after menstruation. Some women experience pain or cramping with intercourse, bowel movements and/or urination. Lastly, pain can result when endometriosis implants form scars. There is no relationship between severity of pain and how widespread the endometriosis is (the "stage" of endometriosis).
Endometriosis can be one of the reasons for infertility in otherwise healthy couples. When laparoscopic examinations are performed for infertility evaluations, endometrial implants can be found in some of these patients, many of whom may not have painful symptoms of endometriosis. The reasons for a decrease in fertility are not completely understood, but might be due to both anatomic and hormonal factors. The presence of endometriosis may involve masses of tissue or scarring (adhesions) within the pelvis that may distort normal anatomical structures, such as Fallopian tubes, which transport the eggs from the ovaries. Alternatively, endometriosis may affect fertility through the production of hormones and other substances that have a negative effect on ovulation, fertilization of the egg, and/or implantation of the embryo.
Other symptoms related to endometriosis include lower abdominal pain, diarrhea and/or constipation, low back pain, irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding, or even blood in the urine. Rare symptoms of endometriosis include chest pain or coughing blood due to endometriosis in the lungs, headache and/or seizures due to endometriosis in the brain.

I have to say I have the same problem as you. I hurt very bad on my right side. Now, they did find that I have precancer cells which I have been treated for over the months. I am trying to concieve with my 3rd child and have recently got off the BC of 5 years but never has it taken me 3 months to get pregnant before. SO maybe theres something going on up there with that pain on my right side. Dr's say it could be an inflammed ovary. But motrin does help
Tiny D....I think I know how you feel!! I have the same type of pain. I have been diagnosed (misdiagnosed????) with IBS for 12 years now but this pain is new. I get mine 2-3 days before my period and the excruciating pain usually last for 5-6 hours but is followed by days of feeling gross. The doctors at the emerg have told me it is gas so I take gas pills and the last attack I had was only super bad for about 3 hours so maybe it is helping; although I really don't think it is gas. I have really bad ovulation pain as well but I usually only get it when I'm ovulating and advil or motrin usually relieves the pain. I only get it on my right side which leads me to believe I only release an egg from one side. Did they rule out cysts? It is not impossible to ovulate more than once in a cycle. You need to get a better diagnosis from your dr.
I am so sorry ,that stinks. It could just be gas. GAs can cause very severe pain in that area. Try taking some gasX pills next time you have that sensation and see if it helps.
Ovulation on your cycle probably is about day 14,15,16 if it is ovulatin pain it would be at that time. Pms would be the week leading upto your period. This type or pain is mostly dull unless inflammation, cysts etc are involved. As it is your left lower side it could be something with your bowel. You should try and get a referral for a colonoscopy to rule that out. Since the gyno has ruled out the other. good luck!
