Sexually active?

Just curious about the use of the term 'sexually active'...
If you've had sex only once, and that was the first and last experience in say 6-12 months, does that mean you are 'sexually active' although you've only had sex once?
Or, if you're not a virgin, you're 'sexually active', regardless of how many times you've had sex?
I thought the term meant if you're having sex with someone on a regualr basis but I'm not too sure when it comes to those circumstance.

I used to mess with the doctors whenever they could ask me that 'Are you sexually active?" Generally they mean are you having sex on a fairly regular basis. I am pretty open with my doc, always have been. Even as a teenager I would tell them anything and everything they needed to know about my sexual activity.

If asked, let them know honestly. If it has been only once and it was months ago, tell them "I have been sexually active, but not recently" or something of the like.

That was one of my responses, the other was something along the lines of "When you say active, do you mean hanging upside down off of an overpass? If so, it has been a while since I have done that, so I guess I am not that sexually active anymore." I tend to use humor in uncomfortable situations, some docs love it, others hate it. You have to gauge your audience before throwing something like that out.

LOL @ no I just lay there, must admit I did laugh to that. I dont think Id have the guts to say that! Yeah I always assumed it meant having sex at the moment.
