Shall I take the D

by Haiya, Dec 02, 2005 12:00AM
Hi Everyone:

I am seeking a 2nd opinion here. I had IVF this October, blood test on Nov 14 shows hcg 115, which is positive. I've been bleeding since Nov 5. 2nd blood test on Nov 18 shows hcg 530, nurse said it is too low, so I did 3rd hcg on Nov 25 and came back hcg 693, then nurse told me that Dr. think it is a nonviable pregnancy and suggest me to take off Prometrium, then my period should come. I went to meet Dr on Saturday Nov 26, he did a u/s and found nothing, he explained to me that he think the embryo did implanted but didn't developed. So I listened to Dr, took off Prometrium on Saturday then I started bleeding heavier.
Tuesday I went to talk to Dr again, I asked him if there should be tissue come out, caz I didn't see anything come out. He said normally it should be, but my body might absorb it too. So I waited.
Today Dec 2, I had another blood test and it came back hcg 1032. Now I am confused. I am scheduled for another blood test next Thursday, and nurse said if it doesn't come down, then I probably need a D&C.

I read some article says 15% of normal pregnancies have an abnormal rise. I am waitting for the next test, but I just want to know if anybody here has similar experience.

Thanks for listen and share.

I would hang in there.I was told by my doc. that you're hcg levels have to be between 1,000 and 1,500 before they can even see anything. My hcg levels on wednesday were 1,284 and i had a u/s on thursday and they could only see a very little sac. You're hcg levels are going up so that is good. Have you been cramping?

I have no pain no cramping, since I took of prometrium, I guess the progestrone level went down so I bled a lot. Today the bleeding almost stop, just a little dark color spot.

I am just so worried that they keep telling me it's not a healthy pregnancy, but what if it is?

Waitting is killing me, it's like you are sentenced to death but don't know when.

I will post when I have the result next Thursday.

Thanks for your reponse.

If you do in fact have a viable pg than maybe you should go back on the progesterone? As for the u/s, the usually can't see anything until hcg is 1200. I would hang in there and don't give up. Your hcg numbers haven't been great but every pg is sooooo different. I m/c and my hcg doubled even after baby's h/b stopped beating and continued to rise right until I had my d&c 2 weeks after I had my missed m/c. You can't go by hcg alone. Go with your heart and keep positive or at least realistic. I just can't believe how negative your doc and nurse have been!

Oh, when I read your words, tears almost come out. I 've been told too much negative info, have been cried too many times since this started.

Thank you for your words.  I will hang in there.
