Sharing my experience

Hi,

Right now i am 23 weeks pregnant. yesterday i got a shocking letter from my medical lab.

It says the blood test they drawn i mean very first time to confirm my pregnancy is wrong. They found out their machine gave the incorrect results on that report. so they told us to come to the dr office .

today morning we went there my dr told me sometimes it happens like that. so u have to go to the lab to get your blood test done.

Then we went to lab and had my blood test.

we are so shocked about this letter. how come they didn't found out till 23 weeks?

i just want to share it with this forum.

My kind advice is : if u had your blood test or any kind of test. call your dr office after 2 days and check it out is everything is o.k with your test. if we forgot they willcreate the problem like this later.

-thanks

What do you mean? Are you PG or not? :)

yes i am curious about that too. by 23 weeks you would have had many dr visits , an ultrasound most likely, and the dr would have listened to the heart with a doppler. what does this mean really?

I too, am very curious....

You posted about your checkup the other day saying:

"yesterday i have a doctors appointment . My doctor told me everything is normal. what that ultrasound tech found in my scan is a small cyst near cervix. she said it's normal for most of the women's so don't worry about it."

they must have seen the baby on the ultrasound right???

What did your blood test show? I would think you would know if you were pregnant or not being 23 weeks. Hasn't your Dr. done an ultrasound with you by now?
I'm not sure how other places are, but my Dr. gives them every appointment. There is a utrasound matchine right there in the room.
And didn't your Dr. do a seperate blood test to see what your hcg levels were in addition to conferming the pregnancy?
I hope the blood test was right with you and you are indeed prego!! Let us know

I'm confused.  You've had an ultrasound to confirm that you're having a boy, but your doctor wants you to have another blood test to confirm pregnancy??

"create a problem like this" what problem? you are apparently having a healthy boy, you are over half way done, but because of some lab incedent 18 weeks or so ago you find this tragic? come on now you have a million of us sitting here wondering please let us know what you are talking about!

Drama, drama, drama

I don't understand why you are so shocked.  Mistakes happen, and this one has had no ill effects on your baby.  I think you need to take a deep breath and relax.

where did "mom" go?  this just doesn't make any sense.  i hope no other pregnant women read this and worry needlessly.

its totally confusing. the lab sent her a letter to say they messed up. so then she goes to the dr, he sends her back, why? he knows if she is pg or not! hell he told her she is having a boy!!where do you  live that its done this way?

i'm wondering if she meant the blood test(s) that you do to test for a whole bunch of things (cystic fibrosis, hiv....). other than that i don't see why it would make a difference if your first blood test to confirm pregnancy was wrong at this point.

that is what i thought but she did say her very first to confirm pg test.

Why would you need to get your blood drawn again if you and your Dr. know that you are indeed pregnant? Are you sure that they ment the blood work to confurm pregnancy? Maybe it was another blood test that they were talking about. Possibly the quad testing was done and you got back incuclusive results?

It doesn't make any sense for them to retest you to see if you are pregnant when the ultrasound shows that you are definalty pregnant. There is no need for it that I can think of. You should call your Dr. and ask them why you needed to be retested and if it was actualy to conferm you are pregnant or if it was another test. something isn't adding up...
