I was having something like muscle spasms in my chest under my ribs they told me I had massive acid reflux. So I have been drinking water and powerade (no soft drinks) since. Well today is almost a week from when I went to the doctor and I have been taking my medicine like I'm sopouse to well I was with my friends tonight and started laughing hard and it felt like my ribs were tightening on my lungs, like they were going to cave in I had to sit down and stop laughing completely because I felt like I was going to pass out. Please help me!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hello,
This feeling of chest tightness can be due to acid reflux. Try raising the head of your bed about four inches with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for two hours before you lie down. To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods .

Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec(omeprazole). These will help.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
