Shedding Uterine cells in Pap

by flowergirl15, Jun 08, 2007 12:00AM
I am 54 - had a routine pap last month.  I finished my period 6-7 days before. Have normal periods, not menopausal yet. No symptoms of menopause.  Dr. advised that there were uterine cells in the pap.  He said this could indicate a malignancy. I am so worried.  He did a uterine biospy right away in the office. Is it possible he found something that he's not telling me about yet?  I have to wait 1 more week before results come back.  I thought it was normal to "shed uterine cells" if you are still getting your period.  I have no heavy bleeding between periods or any symptoms of cancer.  Could these cells be normal or does it mean I necessarily have cancer of the uterus?  Please give me some information. Thanks in Illinois.
