Should I trust a transvaginal ultrasound, a regular ultrasound, and an x-ray to find a tumor on the ovaries?

by clinn1990, Sep 20, 2009 12:51AM
Hi, I am 19 years old and for the last few months I have been experiencing stomach pains, kinda feels like im bloated, I have gained 8 pounds, and I have had lower back pain. I went to the doctors and she automatically sent my for an transvaginal ultrasound, regular ultrasound, and an x-ray of my abdomen. The results came back normal, the test said there was no signifacant masses on my left and right ovary. The only thing it did say was that I had multiple follicles on my ovaries, what does that mean? I have had no other health problems, so should I be worried about cancer if all my tests came back negative? The test also showed that I was "backed" up, which I didnt think I was and she felt my stomach and gave me prevacid for me, what else could be causing this, could it be because I have alot of follicles? Thanks for the help

Look up PCOS online, polycystic ovary syndrome I think it stands for.  If you have a lot of follicles ripening at once, I believe that is part of the PCOS syndrome, and there might be some good information there for you.

Oh my dear...you sound like ME! Sadly, but Im a decade older than you.....I was wondering the same thing a few months ago. Turns out I was pregnant.

I also suffer a history of ovarian cyst...which I think complicated my ovulation so the baby too a little bit longer to register pregnant with my test.

I am not saying your pregnant...cause I dont know if your sexual active.

However, I will say that you are F.I.N.E

cause if your NOT---then i must have a tumor too!

(smile)

Seriously, I know how u feel... I was going to the doctor for like 2 months... I really thought something was wrong....I asked over and over and over...after the first two blood test said negative...and then a hpt said positive. I was really afraid.

All is well now.
I am sure its hormonal...the good thing is that you have follicles! this means things are working ok. As far as being "backed up"...eat more fiber...maybe some shredded wheat for ceral every morning...or take a medimucial drink (spelling is wrong sorry)
