Skin Pigmentation

by Maded, Jan 24, 2007 12:00AM
Hi!!

I was wondering if you can advise me on something? i don't know if you are the correct person to ask? I have been going on the sun beds and i have got loads of white (untanned) circles all over my back and belly, it looks really disgusting, i am thinking these are something to do with my skin pigmentations?
I really don't want to stop going on the sun beds as i hate being white and pasty looking, i also don't like using fake tan because its messy and streaky, i was wondering if there is any lotions / pills etc... that i can use to stop these circles appearing? i know your best advice would be to stop using the sun beds, but i really don't want too because i love being tanned and looking healthy, can you help me?

Much appreciated

Diane

that can really be caused by a broad number of things.  the lights in the bed... the bed itself... skin pigmentation...  no one can really guess what it is, other than suggesting you make an appointment for your family doc or dermatologist to take a look at these circles.

an alternative, however, would be the spray tan beds... no lights, quick tan, and looks just like you tanned in the bed.  check your local tanning beds, I'm sure one of them offers it.  it may be a little more expensive, but its a quicker, better, and safer tan.

good luck

I think your skin can only take so much...im not a physican to say so.. but, id say to much of it is bad for the skin... .. but if u wish to continue then do... but maybe u should ask the people u go to.. about whats on ur back and belly..

Perhaps you should go get checked out by a dermatologist.  If your skin isn't tanning uniformly (especially if it did in the past) and you are a heavy user of tanning beds, you are in a high risk category for skin cancer.

Tanning beds are no joke. They cause a lot of permanent skin damage. I work in cancer research. We here of sad cases all the time. Not to long ago I heard about one young 20yr old girl who had a severe case of malignant meloma from over using a tanning bed.

I would stop using one if I were you.

Is it perhaps tinea versicolor?  It is a common and harmless skin condition caused by yeast... Try looking it up to see if your non-pigmented spots look similiar...

I'm noticing very tiny white spots on my legs. I have fair skin and the spots are spreading all over my legs.  What can I do about this?
