Skipped a period

I have not has sex in 5 months, and I had used protection. I had my period 4 times since having sex, but I am 5 days late this month. I took a home pregnancy test and it was negative. I have also had no symptoms of being pregnent. I was wondering if there may be an explination as to why I missed my period??

If you haven't had sex in 5 months, you can be extremely sure you're not pregnant. Sometimes we just miss a period or it's delayed. Hormonal changes, new medications, changes in diet, weight gain/loss, stress, there's a hundred different things that can cause it. Missing one isn't something that concerns many doctors. It's only when you start to miss 3 or more that they will try to do something about it.
