Sleep too much

I need at least 10 hours a night to function well. I am a little overweight. Is there anyway you can help me to sleep less like about 7 hours a night?

i agree with a few above posts.  i sleep much better and need much less when i exercise, however, in the winter i am always tired no matter what.  of course if i nap in the middle of the day a)my children would tear the house apart and b)i would never be able to go to sleep at night!

I also require about 9-10 hours. That doesn't mean I'm able to GET that much sleep, I usually end up being tired most of the time, because I don't sleep enough. Everyone is different, some people function fine on 6-7. I wish I was one of those people, because I'm lucky if I get 6. I can't help you with your problem, just wanted you to know you're not alone. Oh, and I'm not overweight, I eat well and get plenty of exercise. I've always needed more sleep than most people.

Exercise is important and eating healthy and also taking vitamins.  That is what others have said and I believe it.  I can tell a difference from when I don't do these things and when I do.  I feel healthier and more rested when I do all of these things! Good Luck!

Sometimes if you're depressed you can sleep longer.  I know
I do.  I guess to me it's a form of escape.  I too need my
extra nap during the day to get me by.

Are you REALLY complaining????  LOL Just kidding.   I would give my right and left arm and leg to get 10 hours of sleep.  I'll give you my son for a week and I guarantee you won't get 10 hours anymore.  No seriously though - Can you try a little cat nap during the day???  I say that cuz if I get a nap I go to bed much later and get about 6 - 7 hours of sleep (make sense???)  I don't know how else you can get less sleep.  I still say count your lucky stars that you can do that.   Good Luck to you.

10 hours of sleep? Wow, I am lucky to get 10 hours of sleep in 3 days. This time of year our clocks are messed up due to the shorter days. As spring gets closer, maybe you will find yourself picking up a little.

It is a good idea to approach your doctor about it, as mentioned above, there can be medical reasons for your fatigue.

Again, I am so jealous you are afforded the luxury to sleep 10 hours a night. ; )

Have you tried taking a multi vitamin?
Also, I think it depends on the climate, like someone else mentioned in previous post.

i dont know where you live (climate) but i know that i feel as if i need that much sleep during the winter months. come spring/summer i am up at the crack of dawn and get about 6-8 hrs of sleep. is this the case with you?
also, if you eat meals before you "retire" that can make you sleepy, lots of carbs too. zzzz... tired thinking about it.

Have you had your thyroid levels checked? Just wondering...it sounds all too familiar and I am hypothyroid. Fatigue and weight gain are two of the major symptoms among many other.

Eat healthy meals and exercise daily. I have found that if I work out and eat healthily I sleep better and don't need as much.
