your story sounds similar to the one i'm going through right now....i know, it's the most frustrating thing ever. do you ever have an internal itching/burning or is it just the swollen labia and discharge? one thing that i'm learning is that if they take a sample when symptoms are not there, it's not going to show anything. Have they done a culture? That might help figure out exactly what it is that they are not seeing on the slides. Perhaps it is something that you are using in that area that is irritating you like scented soaps, thongs, etc. Also, some discharge is normal, i've always had some, it could just be your body trying to clean itself out. Vulvodynia is something that is possible as I've learned a lot about it from some of the other women on this forum, but i think it sounds like either an infection that's not showing up, an allergic reaction to a product, or both. do any white blood cells show up on their slides?
BV can be very hard to get rid of. Once the vaginal immune system is out of whack it's difficult to bring it under control. And yes, the meds you take for bv can cause a swollen labia. BV by itself usually does not have any pain associated withit in that area.
Try another doc. One who is willing to listen to your current history. Write it all down, what you experienced when, what you did to treat, and what tests were performed and the results. Go in prepared.
It sounds like reoccuring bacterial vaginosis. Like the above poster stated, it can be a ***** to get rid of. You may need to use the flagyl again. I dont think it's an std b/c your tests would have been positive (at least one time.)
Vulvodynia is likely. It's a mystery as to why your experiencing these symptoms, but at least you know what it's NOT. Good luck!
Thank you all so much, they have done cultures and they all seem to come back negative including a pap smear. I am seeing a new doctor on Friday, and I hope that perhaps this new doctor can help, I will let you know. A thought I have had is that perhaps this BV is resistant to flagyl, Ive read some of this online? Does anyone know ifthere is a stronger medicine you can use?
Also, yes I experience from itching from tiem to time, not severe, but def some itching, and there is also an internal burning sensation that sometimes even seems to radiate down my thighs, very strange
from what you're saying i think it could just be an infection that is just not completely gone, which is also what i think i have...the trick is to go to the doctor when you are having symptoms....i am "patiently" waiting (if that is even possible) for my symptoms to really start acting up because i am tired of going to the doctor and having them tell me everything is normal...from what i'm learning, both bv and yeast can be very resistant and you might need a longer treatment....hang in there and know you're not alone by any means.
Hi, I just wanted to let eveyone know that I too have been have the same trouble for over a year now. My doctor was not listeneing to me and kept treating me for BV and yeast infections and it was not going away. I started seeing my old doctor and he said that it was due to inflamation (inflammation). So we have tried several of the same treatment that were discussed up above. None of which has helped. So last week I went to a new doctor and she took some samples from my cervic and Labia (very painful if you have this done) and they call me today with the results. She said that it was due to chronic ulcers. I never knew you could get ulcers in your vigina (vagina), but I guess you can. She said that some times it can be related to an autoimmune (mis spelled) disorder. I also have a thyroid disorder and just had to have it removed 3 weeks ago because it was inflamed and starting to cause breathing problems. I asked if the inflamation (inflammation) could have spread through my body and be causing these problems and they said no, but I'm not sure it not all related. Any way I go back to my thyroid doctor next week and she said to have him do some other test there to see about the autoimmune thing. After I heard back from them I will post an update. Hope this helps someone out there.
my husband cheated on me without using condoms i suffered from yellowish discharge and itchy swallen vigina (vagina) my reslut was negative i thought it was thrush so i bought thrush treatment but it didnt work the swallen later reduced and the yellow discharge stil there thick smelly and covers the whole area i dont know what is it i am stressed and scared of what i had to pay 4 my hubby mistakes having him risking my life please help and advice

keep seeing a different doctor until you get a decent answer. Its not normal and you shouldn't have to put up with it. Try making a diary of your symptoms to see when there appear or are worse. PS did you know some STI's wont show up in testing for up to a month after exposure to the disease (so your previous tests could have been too early and hence showed a false negative). You know I wish doctors had to experience every sypmtom they brush off as normal.... it might make them much more sympathetic.
sorry i forgot to add that your sexual partner should be tested to (or he could just be reinfecting you) and i would recommend using condoms til its all sorted out
I have the very same discharge and all and I have been diagnosed with HPV.They say you can be positive for it and go back to the dr say 6 months later and it be cleared up on its own. They say it comes and goes.Well needless to say I have been positive for it very single visit for the last 2 years.Tell your gyn you want an HPV test.People are just now becoming aware of the disease.
i get yeast infections very easily and i got sick and tired of buying the 3 or 7 day treatments (dont use the 1 days they dont work as well) so i went to the health food store and bought a candida cleanse. also i started regularly taking acidopholis and a candida suppliment to help put good bacteria back into my body and regulate yeast overgrowth. ive found this works great! that and wear only cotton undies!
I am having a similar problem. I have an itch (not really severe but persistent) and a yellowish discharge (looks kind of like mucous or snot...sorry for the picture) There is no odor and no burning when I urinate. I thought it was a yeast infection but the discharge is different from what I have experienced with previous yeast infections. Any idea of what this could be?
hm.i am having the same problem.was really irritated and worried because it happened right after i had sex for the first time.was wondering if it could be allergy to rubber?it can be really itchy and uncomfortable, the yellow discharge seems like pus to me.has there been anyone that has a clear diagnosis and been cleared of the problem?
