my b/f just went thru like a mrsa outbreak. he had something on his pointer finger...like a "bite" of some sort. he started messin w/ it thinking he could "fix" it. didnt want to go to doc. basically it became a sort of hole almost and it was just like tissue dying! got infected...went to hospital and all that......put on antibiotics. weeks later another one on another finger. got red and swelled up about 3x its size. went to hosp and they sliced it open and did a culture.....mrsa! this was at least two months ago now...and his fingers still aint right! now im wondering if i have the same thing on my thigh/butt area.....i sure as hell hope not.....it hurts though! just like his started. when he would hit his finger on something, he damn near pissed down one leg. i felt so bad for him. he works with his hands(mechanic) and he couldnt do anything for a while. hopefully mine is something of an ingrown hair. going to make a drs appt.

I think I have the exact same thing, only it's on the back of my calf above my ankle. My husdand says his brother had one and they called it a strawberry, but i haven't been able to find any information about that. I've had it for years and it keeps getting bigger. I need to get it removed but I want the doctor who does it to know what he's doing.
Hi Lacey
It sounds like hydrenitist I had at least 20 day time surgeries for them they are very painful and usually its in the private areas or anywhere really but most times its in the privatte areas breasts and under the arm do a google on Hydrenitis and you will have a better idea I live in Canada we don't have a support group like U.S.A Hydrenitis Sopport Group you will find out all you need to know if that is what your problem is I started having them when I was 23 now I am 56 and still having surgeries as there is no cure for it I use Tea Tree Oil a lot you will find out on that site good luck and I hope I am wrong.
I had that, ended up being staph infection
so does any one know what to do if you have a purple lump or some thing like that on your leg
I have the same hard purple bump about the size of a quarter. I think I've had it for well over a year now. It is a hard bump on my inner thigh that comes and goes. It is soft in the middle and hard around the soft middle part. When it goes away, it leaves a soft area indented area until it returns. Sounds the same as many of the other posts.
hey are your bumps shiny and looks like there's dry skin on it too? everything sounds the same as i got but i just want to know if the shiny, dry skin thing was part of it also? pleeeeeaaaese help! thanks
i realise you had this problem four years agoo but i was just wondering what it was and what you done about it as i have something very simlar to it but on another part of my body that i wont let anyone see so i havnt told anyone about it.
I have a dark purple lump on my inner thigh and I've had it for over a year now. I have been diagnosed with MRSA (mersa) but this lump looks nothing like the MRSA I get occasionally. The MRSA looks like a spider bite, yes, but it also has a head in the middle like a pimple so it can drain but the lump on my leg doesn't. So I don't know if the two could be connected or what. But I also get horrible migraines.
Thats so weird i have the same exact thing. I have had it for over a year. During the first stages it had aa similar appearence. I play volleyball which irritated it I guess and it popped open and had a mixture of blood and puss. For the longest time I thought it was a spider bite. Now I was looking into maybe an ingrown hair. The weirdest part about it is their are two holes and I can stick a needle through it almost like its peirced. I do remember when I first got it I had numerous headaches. I don't knoe what it is but I am extremely curious.
I have one too same place. I would have a blood test check for herpes or a skin condition called mersa not sure if I spelt it right, but recently Dr. Phil had a show on about Mersa. It starts out looking like a spider bite then it gets purple and drains with puss and blood. It can be curible if detected early. about 80% of people have it some are carriers and others get the ugly spots. Definitly see a doctor and ask about Mersa. or see if you can get on Dr. phil's website and look it up. I actually have many on my bottom. they come and go. I had a blood test down but nothing came about. I also had some doctors say about the infested hair but it still concerns me and i am going to try to see another doctor or even a specialist. i'll keep u updated.
Ive had one still got it where yours is but its going because i used a hot steril needle to make an opening,....Ive squeezed it with cotton wool and a load of white and green puss came out then i put TCP on after,... its scabed up now and nearly gone.
I would recommend an ultrasound. I have a score purple lump on my leg and mine is a blood clot. It comes and goes. I take Ibuprofen.
The dark purple color usually means that the liquid you feel inside is bloody. Not a big deal, so don't freak. It sounds like an infected hair follicle and if you scan through a some earlier posts you'll find that a lot of people advise to use HOT compresses to ease the discomfort and this may also encourage it to drain. But yes, if you are still worried, see a Dermatologist.
How big is it? Is it small - could it be an ingrown hair?
Sounds like a boil to me. I got one about two months ago in the same spot. It went away 2 weeks ago and is back this morning. My doc said if they don't go away on their own they have to be lanced.
Not sure what your insurance plan allows, but try getting an appointment with a dermatologist.
