Spider bite

This probably isn't the right place to post this, but you all have been so great in the past, so I thought I would post this here. My sister, (23) was bitten by a hobo (sp?) spider yesterday on her finger. And now it's really swelling up and starting to hurt some. It looks like the flesh is all dead. It looks really gross, not like a normal spider bite. I don't know anything about this. Should she go to the Dr. becaues of this? She is starting to freak out. Does anybody know anything about hobo spider bites? And if there is no need to go to the Dr., is there anything that she can put on it to make it feel better?
Thanks everybody!

I don't know anything about spiders..
But I did get a weird e mail re a new type from india...that now are in Canada and the States.
She really should get it looked at.
Doesn't sound too good.
It could be quite normal....but...better to be safe and have it checked.

I just talked to my hubby and mentioned your post to him.
He said that he saw something on the news a while back about the hobo spider.
It is best to seek  medical attention.

There's an old email hoax about a new type of spider that has been brought over from a foreign country, but it's clearly a hoax (www.snopes.com).  It has resurfaced recently.

But, there are dangerous spiders right here in the U. S.  so if she is concerned she should see her doctor asap.

I don't know what a hobo spider is but I do know that a few spider bites can be very dangerous.   Definately see  a DR right away if it looks like the flesh is dying.

Uh.. anytime you can describe it as "the flesh looks like it is dying".. that is your clue to see the doctor.

what in gods name is a hobo spider. and how does she know that is the kind of spider she got bit by.. I cringe at that thought.. I am not one for bugs and spiders.. I dont know my skin crawls whenever i think of it.. as far as getting things checked out, if it looks as though the skin is turning blackish (necrosis) or there is an increase in swelling where it intereferes with normal movement I would get it checked out. good luck

I cringe just thinking about spiders too!  I looked online at what a hobo spider looks like and I got a shiver through my body.  I had to close out right away! lol

My cousin was with her and he caught the spider. Then went home and looked online to identify it.
I can't believe he caught it!! Must be a male thing or something! LOL  I have a hard time killing one, let alone catching one! LOL!!!

I KNOW!!  I couldn't look at it!
I'm in northern Idaho right now. Orginaly from Wa. (we are only 40 min from my hometown, so basicaly the same)
We have a lot of spiders here! OH I hate them!!! and some of them are huge!! Especially in the winter they are always coming in.
This last winter this huge hairy wolf spider was crawling across the living room, (seriously it was the size of a quarter! It's not uncommon to see bigger than that here!) and I called for my dh to come kill it. My 8 year old heard me and came to the rescue. LOL
I try really hard not to show my fear when they are  around, but it's hard when I get suprised by one. I really don't want to pass my fear off to my kids.
Just thinking about them gives me the creepy crawlies!

My sister was out in the barn (in the country) at the time she got bit. There are so many spiders out there!
