Spotting Heavily on Birth Control

I've been on Sprintec for over 6 months now and have had issues with random heavy spotting for about 3.5 months now. The spotting seems to just start out of nowhere at times, although I have noticed that the spotting will occur when I am more stressed (other times it will just happen when I'm not stressed at all). I've tried to be really consistent about taking my pill at the same time every single night, so I'm unsure what would cause me to spot so frequently and heavily. The spotting has occurred at least once per week, but it is not unusual for it to occur more than once per week. The spotting never lasts more than a couple of hours, if even that long. Should I be more concerned? I have also experienced some unintentional weight loss (10-12lbs) and daily fatigue.

Sounds like the hormone level in the pill is too low to be effective. Talk to your doctor about getting on a different pill, and also, use condoms. Breakthrough bleeding indicates the pill is not being effective.
