Spotting for 9 days period due tomorrow according to MC app

My cycles have been a bit of a nightmare not very regular fluctuating generally by a week here or there and recently getting longer and longer the last two were 43 & 46 days long and the last one was mostly brown. Today is day 37 of my next cycle and this app recons I should start tomorrow based on averages from the past year. However I have had brown discharge/spotting for the past 9 days, not enough to use a pad and no cramps but the occasional ache.
My husband and I aren't actively ttc and have been carefulish having said we wouldn't be worried if I happen to fall pregnant it's what's meant to be.
Should I be concerend I would normally have a light-normal bleed for 4 days.
Just not really sure what's going on or when to test if I were to be pregnant.

I did go to the doctor a few weeks ago regards the long cycle and the brown period. They told me they couldn't do any blood work as they wouldn't know which day to test hormones due to my irregular cycle.

Hm, I'd try a new doctor?  I had the same situation as you.  They took blood work at my appointment and could see I had high estrogen and I also had a slow thyroid.  This caused me to have really long cycles (mine were every 3 to 4 months).  I didn't correlate blood work with when my period was . . .  I needed an answer. So, your doctor should be able to treat you to see what your hormones are doing RIGHT NOW that is causing you to have these issues.  I'd try a different doctor and make sure it is an ob/gyn.  good luck

It can be really confusing when we are irregular.  I've been there.  Apps help but not that much when irregular other than tracking days we spot, how many, days we bleed and how far between. That's helpful to know but when irregular really can't help us predict anything.  If you don't want to get pregnant, be sure to use condoms.  However, what you describe means I think it would be hard to get pregnant.  I would go to your doctor and have some blood work done.  You sound like your hormones are out of whack.  Brown spotting for long periods of time are an indication of this.  Let us know what the doctor says!  good luck
