Once she started to take the pill she started spottingVaginal bleeding between periods. Incidentally she had also started Prozak and our local doctor advised that it could be the combination of Prozak and birth controlControl Control rx, so she put her on a different birth controlControl Control rx. Alas the spotting continued and she was also getting drowzy from Prozak so she returned to the doctor and sought another anti depressant to avoid being drowzy.
This time the drowziness and anxiety left her, but the spotting still continued. She decided to move off the pill completely under the impression that it just wasn't agreeing with the anti depressant, and her anti depressants were far more important to her than a the pill.
She has been off the pill over 1 week now and she is still spotting. It is a massive hinderance for both of us as we are newly married and want to enjoy our sex life.
Any response would be appreciated. Maybe you have experienced this?
Spotting is a common side effect of bcp's. It will take some time for the hormones to come out of her system and return back to normal. I would give it 1-2 cycles before calling the doctor again. There are many other bcp's she can try.
