Only fraternal twins are hereditary, identical twins are not. And it doesn't matter if they were on your mother or father's side, as it is the increased production of FSH, which can be from your mother or your father's mother. The older you are, the more eggs your ovaries produce from a rush of FSH, but if you are not ovulating that wouldn't pertain to you. I have heard on a few sites on the internet that people have had trouble becoming insured after using Clomid, so I would take that into account. Good luck, and check out some accredited medical sites, like the Mayo Clinic or Medline.

I have MS and am considering clomid - time is of the essence and I can't be on any MS medication, when my husband and I are trying to conceive. Am I a good candidate for clomid?
Thank you all for your comments! This is and has helped in the understanding better!! 8-)
when determining if twins run in your family they only take into consideration your mothers side not your fathers.
I have twins in my family. My mom's aunts were twins, although they died when they were infants. I took clomid and got pregnant. It does increase your chances just like the previous poster said but it's only a small percentage. I am only having one. I have had 2 ultrasounds now and I am 14w1d.
Here is a really good website for clomid:

Take Care
Clomid does increase you chances of having multiples, and if it runs in the family then chances are you stand a greater risk. However, I was on clomid and am only carrying one. If you surf around you will be told your chances are between 4-10%. The question is, would you prefer one or more, or none at all? Good luck.
