Strange Chest Pain

Okay so I've had this chest pain that all the doctors I've been to do not have a clue what it is. It comes and goes, it could last for seconds, minuets, hours, or even days, non-stop. I've had this for as long as I can remember, so before the age of 5. I can be really bad to the point where I faint or black out or have problems breathing, or could just feel like I got punched. I'm used to the punch feeling though so I can keep a straight face. It doesn't only happen in one spot. It could be on the left or right side or even both. It sometimes feels like it's coming from behind my ribs instead of the front. I've even had it under the armpit. To just make it blunt it happens ANY WHERE from between my collar bone to my belly button. It ***** and I don't know what it it, all my doctors don't know what it is and even my father who was a heart surgeon and a paramedic doesn't know what it was. And no one believes me but my friends and mother, because they were there when I've had an extreme one. I would love to know if anyone knew what this could possibly be.

If you have had all tests carried out to rule our heart problems, it may be a lot of trapped wind or like the previous posters have said stomach problems causing you too much acid.

Keep a diary of the foods that you eat and also what you drink to see if you can find a trigger.

Keep off fizzy drinks and fried foods.  Only eat small meals.  It may be that you may have an allergy to something that you area eating.

Trapped wind can cause terrible pains.
Keep off any foods that can cause a lot of wind, like cabbage and sprouts.

It may be worth your doctor ruling out any stomach problems and checking you out for any parasites and bacteria, especially helicobacter pylori (this is done by a breath test).

Best wishes.

I am sorry you are feeling like this.. I am no expert so I maybe wrong. But I have had similar problems of my chest ..but sometimes the pain can be more painful under my rib area or just on one side of chest. It's sore all the time but every now and again I get such a bad pain. It's like having a heart attack and can be so sore I can not move. I was diagnosed with chronic costocontritis. So maybe mention this to you family or doctor.
My pain can get worse at any time from lifting a pen or sometimes when physical exercise. It's hard to say what triggers it off it just happens. There is loads of website so have a search.
I take muscle relaxante tablets and take a lot of warm baths when my muscle are very stiff as this sometimes eases the pain.
I know what it's like for people to not understand...keep positive as stress won't help. It's not nice and people don't understand. Keep trying...
Let me know how you get on. Take care. X x x

I was experiencing nearly the same symptoms - chest pain, to the left and sometimes center under my rib cage, sometimes to the point where it felt like my manubrium was about to crack - sometimes at night but not always, trouble breathing, especially when at rest, etc.  I've never been punched there, or had a car accident, but I seriously felt like something was broke - with no understandable cause, it was that bad. I underwent  cardiac stress test because I was worried about my heart, and received thoracic radiograph to check on the bone.  Unexpectedly, my doctor diagnosed me with "silent acid reflux".  I began taking lansoprazole (Prevacid is the name brand you can get over the counter), a prescription grade antacid, and I was really doubtful, but I was desperate so I followed through with his instructions.  Low and behold - he was right.  My husband has chronic heartburn, so I was familiar with all of the symptoms, and was shocked this condition even existed and that I had it.  That was nearly five years ago.  I've been off medication for about two years now, and I tell you my story only to think that maybe it could help you, because I certainly wouldn't have thought that acid reflux could manifest in this way.

I had terrible chest pain for months and no doctor could figure it out. I then had a very small pupil in one of my eyes. I was then diagnosed within 3 days. I had a Pancoast Tumor with Horners Syndrome. This was a cancerous tumor in the very tip of my lung that did not show up in x rays. It only showed up once I had an MRI.   I did not ever let up on my doctors. I knew something was wrong and was so sick and tired of being told it was nothing. I did chemo, radiation and then surgery. I am now cancer free.

However the person that mentions the doctor said it was silent acid reflux is interesting. I now have severe pain that makes me tots tally inmobile. I think it is acid reflux. I carry Peptones Bismol Tablets on me at all times now. When I have that severe pain I take two of the tablets and within ten minutes the pain is gone. The pain is so severe, at first I thought I was having a heart attack. Because that is what it feels like. Just a note, only the pills works good. The liquid is not as effective. I know it sounds strange but give it a try and see if it helps when you have that pain. It can't hurt
