Suffering from intense itching in my pubic area & over thighs

It's been almost a year of intense itching in my pubic area and inner thighs. I have gone to the Dr twice with no answers. It's gotten so bad it's keeping me up at night and I can't help but scratch to the point of bleeding. I've tried creams, lotions, essential oils, changed my laundry detergents, body washes, everything and still no relief. I even began to wonder if I'd somehow gotten jock itch and treated myself for that but still no relief. At my last appointment my Dr said maybe it was dry skin but even heavy moisturizers aren't working. Help please. I seriously can't handle it anymore!!

Someone asked about something similar just a day or so ago!  This sounds terrible.  They had been diagnosed with eczema which CAN happen in that area.  They make products specifically for eczema.  I've used them on another area of my body when I had intense itching and couldn't find a cause it the product I used did work (think it was aveeno brand eczema ointment, bought OTC at the drug store.  Wasn't cheap, like 18 bucks but it has lasted forever).  I've be tempted to try that.  Have you ever heard of Lichen simplex chronicus?  This might be worth looking up.  They often use a steroid ointment for that and the goal is to get the area to calm down.  I assume they ruled out pubic lice, right?  I have read about jock itch causing these symptoms too so can see why you tried to treat with that.  What about just ditching your regular doctor and going to a dermatologist?  They know the most about skin!  Sorry I wasn't more helpful.  I do know when I had what I treated as eczema, the more I itched the area, it seemed like the more it itched.  So do your best to leave it alone (I know, easier said than done).  Keep in touch and let us know what happens or what ends up working (have faith---  something WILL!)

Thanks for your input. My Dr did rule out pubic lice. I actually had her do a full std panel months ago just to be certain even though I didn't think it was an std. I have read about lichen simplex chronicus, but what I've read was that it affected menopausal women, I'm 34 & a few other things didn't fit. I am making an appointment with a different Dr, I feel like mine is not even listening to me. I'm incredibly frustrated!! In the mean time I will try the eczema cream as I have tried literally everything else under the sun. Thanks so much for the suggestion!
ugh, I hope it helps!  Let me know what the new doctor says!

I am 49 and for the past year I had itching on the top of my vagina. Been using vagisil cleanser and cream. It comes back. Going to make appt with gyno this week. I thought at first it was a change in my detergent. But now not sure. Any advice is helpful
