TO DOUCHE OR NOT TO DOUCHE, THIS IS THE ?

Douching a very  common practice of the past which most women did on a regular basis for example after periods and sex.  Whats the REAL DEAL now days regarding this old fashioned practice.  Its never anything my gyn or G.P. has ever recommended and its isnt something ive ever tried, I just figure with good hygine and clean habits the body has its own way of taking care of that region.  I only ask this question now as recently I experienced the horror of a dissapearing  tampon, the smell of old blood was so bad and once it was out I was tempted to douche ... I didnt, I personally have an uneasy feeling about it.  Any here ever tried it?? Id be pleased to hear your views and or experiences.
Thanks everyone!

Doctors recommend that you not do it because it can disrupt the natural balance of the vagina and the vagina cleans itself very well.  It's OK to clean down there with mild soap, but douching is discouraged by health care professionals.

I douche every once in a while, mostly with plain water but sometimes a very dilute vinegar/water mixture.  Sometimes I catch heat on here about it because they do say it disrupts your normal pH, but honestly, I've never ever had a problem.

You don't HAVE to, but if you want to and you're not using some harmful mixture, then go for it.  If it doesn't work for you, then stop.

Hope this helps!

I douched once and it was the worst experience.  Soon after I got the worst yeast infection ever.  My ob/gyn does not recommend it since it throws off the natural balance that our body produces.  You do not need to douche.  If you are clean and shower, there is really no need for it.  However, if you are going to do it, my doctor says only use the medicated kind.  I'm sure you are fine and don't need to use it.

Good luck!!
