Tampon problems?

Okay so a 2-3 months ago i went to the bathroom to change my tampon and after i went i couldnt remember if i had taken the one that was already in, out! It was also like one of those things that you get so used to doing that you dont really think about it (like closing the garage or turning off your hair curler). I didnt see any signs of another one when i took the one out and still dont (and i have had sex sinse). Since then my period(s) (i cant remember how long ago it was) have been normal but about two or three days ago i started having very small amounts of red and brown discgarge. The brown is thin and waterlike but the red looks like there is bits of something in it. I am on birth control and this month i have forgotten twice to take 2 (resulting in taking 3 in one day on two different occasions) im not supposed to have my period for about 6 more days. he always pulls out during sex even though i am on birth control just to be safe. We. Haven had sex in 4+ days. Any ideas on the discharge or anything?!? Please help!!!

the stuff in the red blood is probably just pieces of tissue that didn't fully break up in the uterus. I have periods like that. the brown is tissue that has already come off of the uterine wall and started to break down. since it has no new blood coming into the tissue that is no longer attached it starts to break down and turn brown while it waits to leave the body.
