Tampon question...

i recently left a tampon in for 5 days. I had finished my period, but my husband and i had relations and it's been known to kncok loose whatever might have been left ((crude, i know....but true)) so afterwards i inserted a tampon and went to bed. Somehow I forgot about doing so, i've never done this before but with a lot of extra stress lately, i've been very absent minded and forgetful. I've been ery crampy, like reallllly bad period cramps for a day or so and realized this morning i had a tampon in still. Very concerned. I dont THINK i'm running a fever, but i am still very crampy, which is not normal for me unless i am a day or 2 away frm starting my period (which i am not right now) could use any advice as to what's going on...thank you

5 days?! Wow! Did you know that if a girl/woman leaves a tampon in for more than 8 hours she is likely to get sick and infected. You should go see a doctor or gyno.

You're never supposed to leave a tampon in for more than 8 hours. It is extremely dangerous and can lead to TSS as well as infections. Please never leave one in again for that long.

You're not supposed to wear a tampon unless you're on your period, anything lighter or after intercourse you should be using a panty liner to catch anything. Again, it's dangerous to wear a tampon if you're not a proper period.

You could be cramping because of an infection or something that was caused by the tampon. Just keep your eye on things and if you start to feel unwell or develop a fever go see a doctor. Maybe an idea to go see one if the cramping continues or you notice any discharge or anything so they can check for infection.
