Tampon question......
I was wondering if there are any risks or dangers in using tampons. I have always use pads but decided to use tampons now because of the rash i have mentioned before that i got when i had my period last time. Any info. is helpful! Thanks in advance!
ok im going swimming at a partie saturday and i need a tampon b/c im on my period well my question is doe it hurt when you out one in?and how do i ask mi mom for one?help
I dont know how far to put the tampon in. Cuz it hurts after i put it in. But i dont want to put it in too far

There have been several posts recently on this topic, just do a search with the word tampon. Start with a smaller size and use lubricant the first time if you need to.
Ok.Im going to the beach tomorrow & im staying for a week with my friends.I just got my period today & i never used a tampon before.I tried today & i was to scared.I used a mirror so i could see what i was doing but there was like this little thing there & it didnt look like the tampon would go up there.Help me pleasee.I really wanna swim & have a good time when i go to the beach.
Tampons are safe to use all the time, but refer to what people have told you about TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).
If it feels painful when you sit, or walk around or feels like it is about to come out, then this means you haven't inserted it in far enough.
I use them all the time as pads irritate my vulva area. I think it has something to do with the menstrual blood having prolonged contact with my skin. Just my personal situation anyway. As my period comes to an end and the flow of menstrual blood is less, I also have found that it can be uncomfortable inserting and removing a tampon. I have found that if I apply a little lube or vaseline to the tampon before inserting it, it rectifies the problem.

I usually wear tampons during the day & pads at nite.. Some people are at risk for Toxic Shock Sydrome.. Your tampons should have a warning label.. I dont think blood clots would really effect the use of the tampon. Just make sure you change them frequently & use pads also. It takes a few tries to get use to! Good Luck! =)
I wouldn't use tapmons everyday during your period....there needs to be time that it can flow out. Whe I first used tampons, they were uncomfortable. Do you have it far enough in? They shouldn't be hard to remove if they have a string. When you put it in....this sounds gross....push the applicator it in until you feel yourself(vagina) on your fingers. Then push the tampon up. Does that make sense? It shouldn't feel like it is falling out if it is far enough up. If it is still umfomfortable, maybe try a slim fitting one. You may be small inside so it may cause disfomfort if it is too big.
usually, the only time it hurts to take it out, is when it is dry. if it is fully absorbed it shouldn't hurt to take it out. also, when you put it in, try going in at an angle towards the back area. that might help. good luck to you.
sorry i forgot to also ask, what happenes if you get a lot of blood clots during your period? is it still safe to use tampons? Im so sorry for so many questions im just very curious.
Also i was wondeirng if it is supposed to cause any discomfort in the beginning. I just put my first one on and it hurt for the first 5 minutes but now it just feels like its gonna come out or something. And they also told me that it was complicated to take it out, is that true??
yes, tampons can be worn all day and even at night. just be sure you change it if your flow is heavy every couple hrs or so. personally, i use tampons during the day and pads at night. if you have clots (which is also normal) the tampon will absorb them or when you take the tampon out you will see them on the tampon. when you remove it, just gently pull on the string. sometimes this is uncomfortable too. i remember when i finally decided to use tampons, i was scared. i just didnt want to put anything up in there but its ok. as long as you dont feel it, then its in properly. some woman dont even know its there and will actually forget its inside. they are so much better because you will feel cleaner and not be "reminded" so much that you have your period like you would wearing a pad. im 36 and if i use the "super plus" absorbancy, it sometimes bothers me because im a bit "tight" and takes some getting in! sometimes i can feel the tampon there and i know that i did not push it in far enough. use the slenders or regulars and change them often. if you lay down to insert it, that may help.

Tampons are fine to wear all the time; wearing them doesn't have any effect on your body or flow (you don't ever need to wear pads). As for toxic shock syndrome, the risk is like 1 in 100,000/year... not exactly something I'd worry about ;-)

You may want to do a search on vaginismus; it's an involuntary tightening of the vagina in response to anxiety, and makes intercourse uncomfortable or even impossible. While sometimes it only affects intercourse or pelvic exams, usually it affects all forms of penetration. That may be why you're having some discomfort with tampons now. However, your rash and the tearing you're experiencing sounds to me like there may be something else going on as well. I really urge you to see a gyn for an evaluation. If you can't afford an appointment, go to Planned Parenthood or a free clinic. But do get checked out :-)

Sometimes, if you put it in a little crooked, it can hurt. I do that every now and then and I have to try again with a new one. It might help to get the plastic applicator, they go in smoother. It will take several times of using them to get completely comfortable with them to where you can't feel it in. If you haven't had much sex in the past, you could be very tight, so buy the slim fits. And don't use every day, I usually use them the first couple of days and last couple of days when it's too light for a pad. HTH
