I tried to insert my first tampon today. It did not go well. When I removed it , it hurt like hell.
Why??

Hi, yes, I agree with above.  If you remove it very quickly after putting it in, it's dry and can be painful.  Once blood has soaked into it, it's moist and can be much more easily removed.  Sorry for too much information--  but hopefully this helps.  It gets better.  I have no pain or discomfort now.  good luck

Did you wait for it to be soaked or remove it straight after putting it in? If you do that it hurts more. Also you have to really relax and try to pull it out at the same angle you put it in. I've always found it hurts a little but keep practicing and it will get easier.
