The Chances.....

by BabiiChopsta, Feb 04, 2006 12:00AM
i was just wondering... what are the chances of getting pregnant if properly using the birth control pills and having your man "pull out" approx. 3 mins before he ejaculates?
thanks so much.

being on birth control and taking antibiotics doesn't make it obsolete it decreases the effect of the pill, you shouldn't use the "pull-out method", you should use a back-up form of birth control like a condom.

I took ortho-tricylen for 5 years and never got pregnant or had any worries...

I don't think you have anything to worry about!! If you take your pill at the same time everyday, you can have as much sex as you like!!! And he doens't have to pull out.

I was on the pill for years and have had a lot of sex. The only time I used the withdrawal method was if I was on antibiotics (which you should know, makes the pill obsolete) and I have never gotten pregnant.

so yea, like I said, as long as you take it on time everyday. you will be fine.
what brand are you on ??

The pill is about 99% effective when taken correctly, and most people who are monogamous use it alone for birth control. Yes, I know 15 women will now post here about themselves, friends, family members, coworkers, friends of friends, etc., who got pregnant on the pill, but I swear those are the exception, not the rule. Having him withdraw before ejaculating is a waste of time and fun, because withdrawal is a notoriously ineffective method of birth control anyway :-)

However, if you both haven't been tested for all STDs and are monogamous, you should always use a condom anyway :-)

You could say that "monkeyflower" is talking about me. I was taking Ortho-tricycln about 3 years ago, when I got pregnant. I will admit that I'm not convinced I did a good job at remembering to take the pill every day, so I'd double up the next day. I don't remember being on any anti-biotics before getting pregnant, but then again this was 3 years ago... Now I'm much more careful about taking it daily, and I even have a reminder note taped to the inside of my front door so that I don't leave the house in the morning with out taking it.

Yeah, there ARE exceptions, but when you're using the pill properly, there's no reason to have to use the pull-out method. I've been having sex with my husband for almost 2 years while on the pill and we've never pulled out. No pregnanceies yet! :)
