Thick, smelly, yellow discharge in my underwear????

Okay so I feel embarrassed asking about this. I'm 13 (keep in mind). I'll be turning 14 in 33 days. Lately, I've noticed there's this thick, smelly, yellow discharge in my underwear. It sometimes stains my underwear and I'm kinda freaking out. I really don't know what it could be. It smells really bad when I'm out in public so I keep my legs tightly closed. I haven't had sex, haven't masturbated, and I don't touch other people's private area. I don't even like touching people, whether it's shaking hands or hugging or high-fiving. I don't participate in that OR any sexual activities. I'm only 13. My mom would kill me. She's at work right now so I think it's best for her not to talk about it while she's at work. I just need to know what it is. I pray it's not a yeast infection. Help out, please?

I am not a doctor, but I'm guessing that what you have is, indeed, a yeast infection.

Candidal yeast infections are common in all women, girls, even babies! It lives on the surface of everyone's skin and normally does not cause any problems.

Sometimes when you use too much soap/bubble bath/shower gel, wear synthetic underwear, or even just get too hot, the delicate balance of bacteria that normally keeps it at bay is tipped, and it starts to overgrow and can cause an infection.

Your symptoms are pretty classic for a yeast infection and you really need your mom to take you to the doctor for testing and treatment with antibiotics.

Since women CAN be prone to getting yeast infections, incorporating yogurt or some other type of probiotic is a good defense. It is especially important to take a probiotic while on antibiotics since they kill not only the bad bacteria, but the good as well. A probiotic will help restore the balance sooner.

Also, I strongly recommend you wear cotton panties as they absorb moisture much better and allow better air flow............the lack of either of these can contribute to yeast infections.

I understand this can be embarrassing, but there is nothing to be ashamed of........just one of the joys of being a woman!
I wish you the best
