My friend just had a false positive with her pregnancy.  She is 36 years old and it came up positive of down's.  She freaked out for 2 weeks before she was able to get an amnio done.  Which came out negative.  The doctor was pretty confident it would becuase her u/s came out okay.  Just keep that in mind, talk to a genetic counselor and if you dont want to wait until birth have an amnio done.  Good Luck...I am sure everything will be okay!!!

I've known a couple women that had a false positive. They were told it had to do with the timing of when the test was done (gestation)??? I hope for the best for you. They can do an amnio to check.

I'm so sorry you are going through this! It must be so hard to have your husband away at a time like this!  Will he be back soon?

Has your Dr. scheduled an ultrasound and/or an amnio? I think that is probably the next step for you. (unless you want to wait till the baby is born to find out)
I'm not even going to tell you not to worry, because when people told me that it didn't help any. But do try and get your mind on something else. Go to a movie with a friend, go out to dinner, go see family, go get a massage, etc.

And try to remember, there are a lot of false positives with these tests.

I hope everything works out for you and your family!!

I'm 28 and 16 weekspg. I just got the call from my doctor today that there is a risk for down's. I'm very worried. This pregnancy has not been easy and my husband is stationed over seas. I feel alone. Thanks for answering.

I had a positive result for Spina bifida, but in my case it wasn't a false positive.
But there are a lot of false positives. I don't remember who they are right now, but there are several women on here that have had a fasle positive. Maybe they will see this post and give their stories.
Did you end up having a false positive for something?
