Trying to conceive-heavy mentral cycle

by ringer, Jun 14, 2006 12:00AM
I am a healthy 28 yo. I had been on the pill, without incident, for approx 10 years before my husband and I decided to TTC 6 mos ago. My periods began within the first month. However, 3 mos ago, I had an extremely heavy period. I was changing a super plus tampon every 1/2 hour for 12 hours. The next month, my period was normal. Then last month came and it was awful. For 24 hours, I was bleeding thru super plus tampons and pads within 1/2 hour. I have always had significant blood clots but this is crazy. Is there something wrong or is this my body adjusting to being off the pill? AND- why is it occuring only every other month?

I would call your dr! They say that changing a super pad or super tampon more often then every hour is cause for concern. I have no idea what it could be, but I would call your dr. Good Luck!

Thank you so much for your thoughts. That was exactly what I was thinking but I guess I needed another's opinion. I set a doc. appointment for later this week. Again, thanks for your comment.

I went today and he seems to think that everything is ok. I have to have an ultrsound done next week, if AF does not make her grand entrance before then, to rule out any other possibilities. However, he told me that it appears to be a hormonal imbalance which can be easily alleviated with a prescription.
