Trying to discern when my cycle started after Progesterone

by kyliecat, Oct 24, 2007 09:27PM
Good evening everyone. I recently was on progesterone to induce my period and I'm trying to discern when my cycle actually started. To give a bit of background, my partner and I are trying to have a baby. I was not getting normal periods so I went to the doctor and they put me on progesterone to induce a period and Metformin to help induce ovulation. Well, the progesterone worked and I got a period. I had several days of spotting and then it got a bit heavier last Sunday on the 15th. Not heavy, just heavier then the spotting had been. It went in and out for about 2 or 3 days and I assumed that Sunday may have been the beginning of my cycle. My period is just ending today which would give me a 9 day period. I'm wondering if maybe my period didn't actually start until Tuesday and the previous days were still spotting. I know the doctor said that the progesterone could potentially cause a longer period but 9 days? That seems rather long.

Well, I suppose I'm just looking for an opinion. I'm not completely sure how to judge when my cycle started. I know that either way, I'm entering my most fertile time right now.

How exactly does one discern when spotting ends and the actual cycle started? I have a doctors appointment on Monday so I'll ask my doctor then but for now I'm just getting a feel for how other's feel about this or what you may think.

Thank you for your time!
