UTI treatment

I was told I had a UTI back in May... They gave me meds that I couldn't afford $38. I got another prescription a month later for a medicine that was 500mg to take 4 times a day. I am only around 115lbs so that was a bit much for me. Then I got another prescription that was 100mg to take 2 times a day. Well I went to the doc about a month later & still had a UTI so the 100mg wasn't strong enough. 2 weeks ago I was giving a medicine that was 500mg to take 2 times a day. However, they are horse pills. I cannot swallow pills at all, not even a little aspirin so this is a bit of a problem for me. I tried crushing one into my drink however it tastes like I am eating straight chalk. Is there anything I can take that is in a capsule that isn't too much where I take 4 a day of a 500mg. I know the 100mg pills were capsules which I could break apart to put in my drink. Is there anything I can take for this maybe that is in capsules or liquid that won't be too much? I am wanting to get rid of this infection.

I went to a different doctor office last week & they had a culture done on my urine. They were supposed to call me by Tuesday this week & didn't so I called them. I found out that I do NOT have a UTI... .horray!!!

I had the burning a few days ago but that's really it. It's been a while since I took the last set of meds. Probably about a month or so ago. I should hear something back between tomorrow & Tuesday, hopefully not tomorrow cuz if I do they said it won't be the best news. Thanks! I'll keep you posted.

Do you still I have the UTI symptoms like burning, urgency, frequency? It could just be your body trying to recover from the medicines. A culture will tell you for sure if you have an UTI. Let us know

I went to the doc a few hours ago. They said I may or may not have a UTI. I am waiting on the cultures to come back. They said if I hear something tomorrow then it won't be great news but if they call me Monday or Tuesday that the news will be better. I am just hoping this infection has went away. I just feel tired all the time & every couple days something hurts. I dunno if this is my body after the m/c or the infection. I have also been sick feeling lately especially a lot of the time that I eat.

I have medical insurance so I would think it would be covered. I'm going to go to the doc today to get another medication & to see if they can prescribe that to me. However, I'm not sure if it will be covered by my insurance or not. I just go to the ER here if I have problems because I don't have a primary care doctor since my medical card is about to expire since I'm no longer PG. Thanks.

cipro is a prescription that comes in liquid form, but liquid also tends to cost more. Did you explain the situation to the doctor, because an UTI could lead to a kidney infection when it isn't treated. I too have trouble swallowing pills I tend to crush them (once I check to make sure it is allowed) and put them in pudding. It helps lessen the nasty taste. Hope this helps.
