UTI

by angie67, Nov 05, 2007 01:47PM
My daughter is 16 and is having recurrent UTI's. We started off at her peditricitian. We ended up in the ER with a severe UTI she was urinating blood and screeming with pain. They did a x-ray and the ER doctor said she had a large cyst on her ovary which could be causing some of the pain but she also had a severe UTI. We were reffered to an OB doctor where he said there was no cyst on her ovary. He sent her to an  urologists which did an IVP and a Cath both turned out normal. He put her on an antibotic (antibiotic) (Bactrim) for 3 months. She had no major problems during the 3 months but she complained with her right side hurting often during this time. As soon as she was off the antibotics she had another one. She has had 8 in the past year. She came up with another one yesterday and again today we were at the doctors office. Today the doctor told her it is an e-coli bacteria and put her on Nitorfurantoin Mono 100mg for 6 months. She says this is not cureable but treatable. Every infection she has had has been an e-coli bacteria. When she was little she kept a bladder infection but no one ever told us anything. The doctor she seen today also said her uterus was tilted or leaning on her bladder which could be causing some of the discomfort. This also concerns me for her future in having children. She is doing all the right things and nothing seems to work as far as the UTI goes. Is there another route that I need to go to get her help for both problems. I hate for her to always be in pain nor do I want her to have problems with child birth later because I didnt do something. *********Please Help**********
