Underarm Thickness

by catluver63, Feb 08, 2006 12:00AM
I will schedule an appointment with my doctor but curious as to hat others think.  I have always had a thickness under my underarms.  Once in a while, the tissue becomes thicker, on one side or both.  Is there a muscle in the underarm that can get irritated by new deodorant, strain, etc?  I don't feel any lumps, its just soft tissue.  Sometimes slight pain.

I think its the lymphatic knot. i used to get the weird pain like pushing within, but after touch it would be sharp. spoke to my doc & she said not to worry, only if it became persistent. the pain disappeared short time after. if it bothers you a lot, definitely see a doc, the way this gland works is that it clears cells from the "garbage" or "infection". it could be some inflammation.

Your lymph nodes are in your armpit. When your body gets an infection they can swell and be sore - but you should definitely get it checked. My sister had this issue - they got large and painful & they went in and did a biopsy to check that it was OK - it turned out fine, but I guess there is a chance of issues.

They ended up telling her that her body must have fought an infection, the lymph nodes swelled up, and never went down.

good luck!
