Unexplained Discharge/Issues

I noticed a white discharge when I went to the bathroom. Alarmed, I grabbed a mirror and noticed a white mucousy discharge on my vulva and coming from my vagina.

What could be wrong with me?

I am 16, turning 17 and I found out about 3years ago that i started getting a white discharge. I have never really been stressed about it and it hasn't really bothered me. Until yesterday, studying for an exam, i learned that it is a sign for cancer..
What should i do???

I saw a doctor about the same problem, apparently it's just your body naturally cleansing itself and many girls have it all the time.

White/mucousy discharge could just mean that you are ovulating. White discharge really doesn't indicate anything serious.  Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.
