Update - guess who WON!!!

For those of you who remember, I posted Thursday about a pharmacy not only refusing to fill my bc prescription, but refusing give back for "ethical" reasons. (i.e. i'm not married - therefore I shouldn't be able to get b/c despite what my dr. says :P) My drs office called the pharmacy AGAIN this morning and I was able to go get my prescription - which I promptly took to a DIFFERENT pharmacy to get filled. I also got a phone call from the owner who appologized and promised that the woman who took my prescription would be "dealt w/ appropriately" I don't know what that means but I'm happy :) Thanks for all your encouragement - I guess my fit pitching paid off.

good for you! i had to get my son some sudefed per his ent dr. well the meth lab people use that so now you have to get it from the pharmacist. they run your dl so it can go into a computer linked to ALL pharmacies to keep track of how much you are buying. then sign something that states you use it wrong you could go to jail and fines. its ok i wish we could get these meth labs outta here. people blowing up apartments and homes left and right around here. guess that is what i get for living in the meth capitol!!!

I just knew it. And people wonder why I HATE living in the south. I can't wait to get out of here and away from small towns forever. You think stuff like this happens in San Francisco? Seattle? NYC? lol.

Good for you for fighting this. While I am usually all about supporting local businesses, this is one I would boycott forever.

I would think about anonymously writing a letter to your local or even national newspaper regarding this! This sort of treatment should be illegal...I'm sure there are grounds for a civil case here!

I'm in AL - it was a privately owned pharmacy so I guess maybe that's why it happened?? I don't know, I was completely shocked myself, when she wouldn't hand the thing back I felt totally helpless, it never crossed my mind that something like that would happen.

I had to go read your post from Thursday because I missed it.  I'm in absolute shock!  I had no idea they would think they could do such a thing.  I'm glad you won and stood up for yourself.  What state do you live in??  I'm in Michigan and have NEVER heard of such a thing happening!  Was this a chain store??

Good for you! I wouldn't have backed down either! That is some ****** up logic! So if you are not married then you shouldn't try to avoid getting pregnant but if you are then you can avoid pregnancy?  Shouldn't it be the other way around? that is TOTAL bull-****.  Good for you, you put up a fight without clawing her eyes out! I would've probably been over the counter slapping the woman silly!

It doesn't matter if you are married or not they should either filled your prescription or give it back to you.  Sounds like they let their personal opinion take control when all they had to do was fill the medicine and let you on your merry way. Sometimes people just need to think about someone besides themselves and what they think is best.

I work in a independantly owned pharmacy and you have to give the original prescription back to the patient if the medication was not filled.  Im shocked that they wouldnt give it back to you.
