You might want to check out the STD forum. However, in the meantime I can tell you that having herpes is NOT a big deal. If you have frequent outbreaks, or if you want to be especially careful about transmission to your partners, you can go on suppressive therapy. Otherwise, it's really nothing to worry about.
My suggestion for the future would be to always use condoms for vaginal/anal intercourse, and get tested for all STDs at least every year.
okay i got an update...after i spent about half a day on the phone calling my obgyn office to inquire about my last office visit...
They said they said herpes was one of the test they did last time and it was negative but the one they did was on the cervix...so should i be less concerned? more concerned?...
And I just dont understand that if we are relied on the doc then why would they did a herpes test on the cervix (when I had no lesions at the time) and took my blood to do other STDs test???? I felt so let down by my doc as a 3 yrs old kid would have used my damn blood to test for herpes as well if that was what used to test for HIV, chlamydia, ghnorrea, etc...if we have to tell them what to do then we wouldn't be there to see them...
