Vagina Help

I have some kind of infection in my vagina area. It appears that my right lip has appeared to grow and is purple with dots. Its a lot longer than the left. I have never had sex and I'm if wondering if having a UTI or yeast infection for a long time would cause this. Ive had something wrong for yrs but am shy and scared to death to tell anyone. Please help!! has anyone ever heard of this. Ive also noticed in the last two weeks a bump near the vagina but not in it, its about the size of a penny and is under the skin cause its not any different color. Im scared if I go to the doctor that they wouldnt have seen anything like this before.

This is hard to describe but like, just above my clitoris, where my pubic hair covered skin meets the fleshy skin, there are tiny dots that you can't really see, just feel. They aren't like, irritating, sore, red or anything. They are just under the skin. People have said it was just normal. Im 15, i dunno about seeing a doctor about it atm, because they've been there for as long as i can really remember.

Brown usually means there's blood present. If you often masturbate with toys it could just be trauma to your cervix and they can bleed a bit but whenever you have a new type of discharge it's necessary to get it checked out!! So go and see a doctor for the sake of your health. Just as some of the women in this forum have said, don't be scared or embarrassed to go for help, they've seen it all and won't bat an eyelid when you tell them your concerns. :)

I think it's normal to have the wrinkle purple lip ... unless there are symptoms I don't think you need to worry. Was it always this way? If it changed maybe it's due to you getting close to getting a period.

Mine are (Purple and wrinkly sorta but pink too too  much info but maybe your the same) -_- but I say a doctor ad thats normal actually.
If you develop something around the lips then maybe you need some help... try calling a teen health number or plant parenthood.. they offer services for teens who don't need parents to come in (Unless you want them to) and I guess all you have to do is call and make an appointment if you want a check up, don't forget to ask for payment method. (Might not be much actually)

Just so you know, vaginas are different. Some pink, some other colors ranging to dark brown and the lips aren't always symmertical (The same on both sides). if you are still worried then try calling your doctor or a gyno or the other health places.

Hope it puts you at ease or maybe makes you aware of something... anyhows, don't worry too much if it's that color unless your worried sick :]. Take care

(I'm not a pro but i know a few things here and there)

Thanks for all you guys help, what you said makes me feel better, ive just had this for so long. I'm afraid that if I go to the doctor now they won't be able to figure out what it is! The lump seems to be going a way and doesn't hurt, but im going to look up bartholins cyst, thanks oceans. What Im mainly concerned about is the larger size in the lip, it doesnt hurt, and there is also a couple of really small purple dots that arent on the lip, and some purple areas but they dont hurt. If I do go Im going to tell my mom I just want to find out more first.

Thank all of you for everything, any more help is appreciated.

it is just so hard to say/suggest via the internet and i do not want to say it sounds normal if it is of concern. you say it doesnt hurt and it's purplish. i know for me, the color of that area has changed as i got older. first it was pink, then purplish, now brown. sorry for the visual..lovely isnt it? the "folds/lips" are usually different in size. they are not symmetrical.
you do seem to be worrying which in this case is best to go for a check up. DO NOT feel as if it's been so long that the dr. wont know what it is. that's why they are in the vagina business. that's why they have gone to school for tons of years and that's why they make the big bucks. that should be the last of your worries.
you didnt say how old you are? you can go to a local family planning and it will be confidential and affordable. you WILL feel so much better if you just go. you need to be going anyway even if you arent concerned about something. do any of your friends go?
post back and let us know what happens okay?

i forgot to add that our vaginal lips do vary in size and are a purplish color. i dont know if you maybe scratched yourself, wiped too hard and caused swelling? something like that? the area is SOOO sensitive.
have you used a gel, soap, detergent to irritate it? it's just so hard to say.
does your vaginal lip hurt? is it sore? what if you placed an ice pack on it, that may help (if it does hurt) and may help with the swelling too.
if you have a chunky, white discharge and you are itchy, irritated, red, in your vaginal area, that may indicate a yeast infection. you do need a dr. to diagnose that before you go treating it yourself. if it is a yeast infection, you can take a pill to help it go away or get a cream that you insert for 3-7 days. sounds like you need a regular check up/exam anyway and it's the smart/responsible thing to do.

well the bartholins cyst (with me) often came out either before my period or slighly after). it began as a little bump that did not hurt. i just felt it. then over time it increased in size and got a purplish/reddish color. thats when it started to hurt like there was no tomorrow. i could hardly walk. the dr. told me to put a hot cloth on it as often as i could throughout the day to draw out the pus (gross). i did and the more purple it got, it got a bit white and finally "exploded". what relief!!! it came back a couple times after that over the years but i have not had it come back in quite some time. its like a big pimple down there.
i do agree with mandajo in that it sounds like you may have a couple things going on down there.
how old are you?? you should see a gynocologist anyway around 18 (unless you are sexually active and/or have a medical concern) which you do.. so please just call and you will be so relieved. if you need help/advice on what steps to take or what you should do, questions about what to expect, just ASK us!!!!
also, if you think you may have that cyst i had, type that in and do a search. i think they may even show some photos of what it looks like.

I forgot to add, if you do not have insurance or do not want to tell your parents (I am not sure how old you are), call your local health department.  They deal with this all of the time and would be glad to help you at little or no cost at all.

Let us know what you find out.

Take care,

Amanda

Thanks for the help!!! Please tell me more about the cysts.

But my main concern is that my right vagina lip has appeared to grow and the part that growed is dark purple with really little dots. And I have discharge sometimes chunky sometimes not.

how old are you? have you ever been to a gynocologist before for regular exams? i do not think (based upon what you have said in your post) that you have a yeast infection or a uti.

it sounds like you may have a bartholins cyst. harmless, but kinda painful. its like a pimple "down there" that needs time to errupt (for lack of better word). you can place a hot cloth on it to draw out the pus.
OR you could have an ingrown hair that became infected.

i have had those cysts before and the largest was about the size of a lima bean (LOL..only thing i could think of) sorry for those of you who eat those. if you have any other questions about the bartholins cyst ask away.

other than that, you should NEVER, EVER be shy, scared, worried, embarrassed to see a dr. they have seen everything and this (what you are explaining) is second nature to them. do you know how many vaginas they have seen in one day??? a vagina to them is probably more comfortable to look at than looking you in the face. dr.s have pulled the strangest things out of vaginas due to experimentation so how do you think that would be?
seriously though, dr.s would be more taken aback if you did NOT come in and wonder why you waited. they want to help you and will not make you feel embarrassed.
do you have a local family planning center? i went to one when i was young because i was embarrassed to have my parents know i went to a dr. (can you imagine?) i wasnt even having sex. i just knew/heard that i should go each year to be healthy. in addition, i did get that nasty ole cyst so i went in. they will help financially as well and help you with a payment plan that you are comfortable with.
