Vaginal Discomfort

My vagina has been very itchy for the past two days. Tonight I looked in the mirror and I have swelling. What could possibly be happening and what can I do for relief?

I just went to my gynocologist today for chronic itching of the upper part of my vagina.  It is something I have had off an on for 14 years, after the birth of our second child.  The only time it went away was when I was pregnant with our third child.  It then came back again afterwards.  Over the years I had it treated with medication.  It went away for many years.  It returned about a year ago, the chronic itching has not stopped.  I have taken medicine for Gardnerella, since that was something I had in the past but it did not take care of the itching this time.

The Doctor thinks I have Lichen Scerolis (spelling) and has given me medicine for that to try.  If that does not work she is taken a biopsy, I hope this medicine works.  Chronic vaginal infections can lead to cancer of the vagina and I am concerned I may have that.  The doctor never mentioned that, but I have done my research and know that is a possibility.

Have your doctor check you for the possibility of what I have.  Good Luck and let me know...
