Vaginal Fissures is it herpes?

I am 27 I had unprotected sex 5 months ago. After having sex I got sick with a fever for a few days. The developed a thick white vaginal discharge, that was quite clumpy like paper. ( Went to the doctor thought it was an STD, all came back negative. He thought it was a yeast infection. I then developed a cyst on my labia ( thought it was herpes) my doctor said it was not. I still continued to have  the same unusual discharge. That has since come and gone depending on my period. But in it's place I am gettin a very red swollen vulva, vaginal fissures (tears) any where there is a crease, whether on the hood or the labia. My OB prescribed a steriod cream but it is only making it worse. She does not think it is Herpes, but is she possibly wrong. I did have a blood test done for Herpes and I tested positive to hepres 1. But I was likely exposed to that as a child. Help I am so scared, not knowing is worse than knowing. Has anyone else had this strange problem? The doctors keep thinking it is a yeast infection, but the yeast test always comes back negative. Thanks

Ok I need some opinions.. I was ery ill 3 weeks ago with pneumonia, strep, & an ear infection. My doc put me on Biaxin & then Augmentin... A few days later I got what I thought was a yeast infection, cottage cheese like discharge, itching burning etc.I hae had many yeast infections oer the years and thought this was no big deal. I bought the monistat 1 day thing and figured that was it. The morning after using it I had 3 cuts resembling paper cuts. I put neosporin on them and the next day I had 2 more. Spoke to the doctor she gave me diflucan and an anti fungal cream. next day I got my period. Continued the cream at night and used a steroid cream I had for something else during the day.The thing that is really strange to me is when my period ended the cuts got much better and went away in a couple of days.Does anyone know what this is??? I used to work in a hospital and have seen my share of herpes and various other STD's and am pretty sure thats not it. I've never seen anything like this.
Whatever it is ,is gone now but I'm wondering if it will come back next time I get a yeast infection or the next time I get my period . I had read on another site This may have to do with the massive doses of antibiotics. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanx

Thanks everyone for your comments, I had a pap done, herpes and HIV test all negative...for the second time. ( Wow this is expensive.) The pap came back that I have a Staph (  Strep) infection. Hope they are right, I am so tired of being in pain, but so glad if they are right that it is curable.  That is it I am waiting until I get married, so much easier to deal with.

hi, it could be a vaginal infection.. try to apply plain yogurt to your vagina.. i know it sounds weird but i was told by my obgyn that its a good treatment, i even looked up on this on the internet and it works.(just make sure its plain yogurt)
i think maybe the headache you got that you mention is probably stress related. sometimes when you freak out over something we get all kinds of funky symptoms.. hope this helps..julie

Did they test you for bacterial vaginosis?  I had what I thought was a yeast infection once, but it turned out to be BV.  From what I understand, this can be very difficult to clear up and I used a couple of different meds before finding one that worked.  But you have my sympathy, the itching and irritation can drive you to tears.  If your doc confirms that it's not herpes, I wouldn't worry, but you do need to be checked for BV if they didn't already.

Good luck!
