Vaginal Irritations

by irritated520, May 18, 2007 12:00AM
I had a couple of lesions on my perineum area back in january and tested positive for herpes. the episode was my first and lasted for 3 weeks. since then, i've been having irritations on and off. i've been to my gynecologist several times and he tells me that it is not related to the herpes.  my doc has given me all kinds of medications for BV and yeast infections. nothing has worked. i've had culture tests and everything came back fine.

i noticed the irritations is usually on the inside of my inner right labia. sometimes there is redness there and it's painful to touch. i feel frustrated because i don't know what it could be. could this just be residual pains from herpes? it just doesn't seem so because i've had one more outbreak of herpes since and it showed up in the same area as the first outbreak which is the perineum area. this pain is located more to the right of my vaginal opening. it's uncomfortable and sometimes painful. if anyone can shed some light on this, it would be so appreciated.

I don't know. I have had vaginal cuts and irritations for yrs alway thinking and wondering about it being herpes and always being told no, it doesn't look like it and one neg culture during my preg with my son who is now 7. They didn't have much to culture as it was only a tear. Finally had the hsv blood test herpes select and sure enough pos for hsv 2, it is not all in my head anymore. This is good and bad. Kindof drives me nuts in a way but then again, at least I know what it is and that it is not all in my head.

To: feel your pain
I have been in the same type of situation for over a year.  I have been diagnosed with Herpes and ever since I have been getting vaginal infections.  I have been treated for BV about 4 times and the last time was a month ago when I was given Flagyl and then that didn't work so I was given a cream and then I was still in pain so I went back and found out that I had a yeast infection.  I am constanly in pain after intercourse and it is very frustrating.  I usually have pain on my inner labia on my left side and I even had a biopsy done on that spot.  The only think I can think is the same as you that the herpes are still slightly around, then again I was taking a prescription for then two weeks ago and found out that it was the yeast infection.  So I am at a loss with you it is very frustrating and puts a real damper on wanting to have intercourse.  I also noticed that my husband likes to shave his area and because he has some hair that grows on the shaft I am wondering if the stubble is causeing the pain.  If you find anything that helps I would sure like to know.  Good luck.
