Vaginal Itching/Discharge, and STDs

I have been having sex with my partner for the past year. Recently, it has been unprotected sex. I am positive that he does not have any STDs, or at least that he didn't have any before me [I have gone to the doctor for my annual checkups, which include a blood and urine test, but I am unsure if these tests would pick up STDs/HIV], since he was still a virgin and had not done anything sexually with anyone else. After sex, my vagina/vulva usually gets irritated/itchy, but it goes away after a day or two.

The last time we had sex, it got itchy again, however, this time it didn't go away. It has been 5 days since then and my vagina is still itchy, and now, there is a light yellowish clumpy discharge, which makes me believe that it might be a yeast infection. However, it only gets itchy towards the end of the day, and the discharge is not always around either. I feel fine and refreshed after I take a shower. The clumpy discharge has only come when I was sexually stimulated/aroused. It is never a lot of discharge either. Only a very little bit.

My appointment with the doctor isn't for a while, but I'd like a little input on what it might possibly be. Also, in regards to yeast infections, can/do yeast infections go away by themselves? I was reading some threads, and I've seen some people state that vaginal itching could be from an STD. What STDs have symptoms of vaginal itching? This is only itching, but even so, it is manageable. There is no pain at all, nor is anything swollen or raw. There are no bumps either.

Vaginal itching isn't really a sign of std's.  Sometimes it can occur with herpes but usually lesions would develop.  It actually sounds like yeast.  Why not buy Monistat 7 and see if it goes away?

Thanks for the response. I've read that taking medication for yeast infections may cause complications if it weren't really a yeast infection, so that it why I haven't tried using Monistat yet. I'm waiting for my appointment, but I'm just curious as to possibilities of what it might be, that way to brace myself for any possible shock/surprise.

In regards to how it is now, the itching is basically gone, but there is still a little bit of clumpy discharge, a very light yellow color with almost no smell [no unusual smell from the norm]. Again, it isn't really a lot of discharge.

I guess more or less, if it is indeed a yeast infection, can it go away by itself without having to take medicine for it? I've read that taking medicine for it might help it build immunity/tolerance, over the long run, so I'd rather not have to try medications if possible.
