Vaginal Sores

I am a 27 yr old sexually active woman. Early last week, I had the typical symptoms of a yeast infection. On Wednesday September 24th I purchased a one day OTC yeast infection medication. On that Friday,Saturday and Sunday my boyfriend and I had sex. On Sunday, after having sex, I noticed that I was very sore. The itching continued into this week and a burning sensation has now developed when I urinate. This evening I decided to take a look at my vagina and when I did, I noticed sores on the inside of my vagina, and on my perineum. I am worried that either I have genital herpes or I had vaginal tearing during sex and the yeast infection did not heal completely and caused these lesions to become infected. There are no other sores on my labia, just near the opening of my vagina and on my perineum.

It does honestly sound like genital herpes but do not panic! Simply go to the doctor while the sores are still present.  Because herpes is a virus that can become dormant (virtually sleep) in the body...the only way for doctors to accurately diagnose it is during an "outbreak." Please do not be embarrassed or afraid of this possibility...just be safe and get medical attention from an OBGYN. ..not an emergency doctor. Just make an immediate appt with your doctor. In the meantime...avoid drinking alcohol and try maybe some Vaseline to soothe your itching/burning. If it is that, Life is not over! It is simply urgent that you take care of you. Don't stress and be blessed.
