Vaginal discharge

Hiya, I am 15 years old and have been sufffering from a vaginal infection- which cause me to have a lot of discharge and the worst thing is that is smells fishy!! I went to see my doctor and he has given me pills and this vagina jell that you insert into ur vagina and I think it has worked a little, but I am still getting a lot of discharge making my knickers very wet and it still smells a bit, but it's not so strong, but still smells and I want it to be sorted out as people can smell it at school and its embarrsing!! I don't get the discharge if I wearing loose clothing, only tight. I have had the problem for about 4 months and so won't it to stop!! Please give any advice as this is a problem which any teenage girl does not want and is ruining my life and confidence. Thanks.

Oh, I'm sure sorry.  I'm sure that is incomfortable and provokes anxiety for you.  If loose clothing works better, stick to that for now.  and perhaps you could wear a light days napkin (light pad) in your underwear and then change it often throughout the day.  Those super light ones are so thin that you don't feel them and you can get rid of them and replace with a new one every hour or two and that will keep the smell down.

If you are sexual, often they will treat your partner with the  pills as well as believe it or not, it can pass back and forth.

BV can be stubborn.  Just keep yourself dry and clean.  good luck

If this still isn't resolved/cleared up, reconsult your physician.....go back to your physician.

You may need another round of medication or different medication.

Hi have stopped the medication  now, but when I took it I took the pills I have had (had at the begginning of the infection) for about a week and then the gel I have just two weeks ago finished was for about 4 weeks... and yes I am wearing 100% cotton knickers to help!

Thanks :)

How long have you been taking the medications?

Make sure your knickers are 100% COTTON.  That will help absorb some of the smell, etc.  You can always take an extra pair of underwear/knickers to school and change the soiled one.  Put the soiled knickers into a plastic bag, seal it and put it in your backpack to take home.

Do NOT douche to get rid of the smell or use anything scented, i.e. tampons, pads, creams, lotions or soaps.

Thanks u very much, it had been a pain... I am not sexual, but thanks for that advice anyway! I think I will wait a little bit and then if I am still having problems I will go and see my doctor again!

Thanks a lot :)
