Vaginal discomfort

For the past few months I have had a lot of vaginal itching and discomfort.  Occasionally it will burn slightly, but not usually.  Also, I seem to be urinating more frequently than I used to.  I had unprotected "penetration" (no ejaculation) about a year and a half ago, so I really wouldn't think that has anything to do with this.  Also, it seems to be worse right before my period.  I am on BC and have been for about 6 months. Does this just sound like a yeast infection? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i have the same problem like yours. For a year i kept having burnings which disappear during menstruations, and sometimes itching. I had discharges but i have always had. I thought it was a yeast but when the burning was so intesne i went and had a swab done. It was bacterial vaginosis. So to explain you girls only bv gives the burning sensation especially after urination, never yeast. BV is more more more often to women than yeast.

Thanks for all the responses, I really appreciate it.  The burning actually isn't when I urinate, it is more like a burning sensation and an itch around my vaginal opening.  Does anyone here ever experience a yeast infection right before their period often?

Yes, burning can be associated with a yeast infection.  I've experienced it.

It is unlikely that unprotected sex 1.5 years ago has any bearing on this current problem, although you are very correct that she should be safe in the future.

Confused

Remember this..Unprotected sex is always risky and just because you dont allow a guy too ejaculate inside of you does not mean that he is STD free! and some guys will tell you anything just too get inside your vagina without protection. Your having some burning when you pee (that does not sound like a yeast infection). Yeast infections normally itch very intensely and irritates the vagina and surrounding tissues and if you buy proper yeast medicines it will clear up in a about 7-10 days. Have you bought yeast medicine? (Monistat is good and so is Cannesten) If I were you I would of called a GYN long long ago. Good luck

Well sure you can have some slight burning during your first day or two of your infection however she did not mention that she had any discharge. That is why I suggested it did not sound like a yeast infection. Pain for several months, No discharge and Urinating often...to me that does not sound like a yeast infection. However we are all not created equally and do not experience the same things. Take care

It does sound like a yeast infection.  Also, with the peeing more frequently and burning it could be coupled with a UTI.

If it was just a yeast infection alone you could try to treat it yourself first, but with the possiblity of a UTI I highly recommend you go to the doctor as soon as you can.  It's no fun to have either one, but BOTH.  UGH!  I feel for you!

I hope you get some answers and feel better soon.  :)
