Vaginal tears

Does anyone experience vaginal tears from just peeing, going to the bathroom, wiping yourself, or from sex?

This happens frequently to me and it is very painful - I have gone to the doctor but all they give me is some ointment that does not help (steriod ointment).

i have the same problem. my husband and i have been married for 3 years and it all of a sudden started happening. every time we have sex it hurts so bad and after wards i will have large cuts all over the inside of my vagina, they will bleed and it hurts to pee because it burns. i told my doctor, she said she thought and it was an issue of vaginal dryness causing friction, she suggested a water based lubricant and it still happens.. so frustrating

Oh i'm so glad i found you all! lol. i've just recently got mine. i didn't know what it was at first. i asked my sister, since she's a nurse, and she told me it could be a tear or heat rash.. i thought it was a heat rash, but the symptoms weren't right. then i came here, and its excatly what is going on with me. it burns when a urinate, and this is the first time i got it. really i didnt notice it till a couple days after sex. which i think it might be cause i'm in a long distant relationship, and hadn't had intercourse for over two months. but i'm glad i saw it goes away. it only bothers me when i pee, and i'm wondering when it'll go away. and if it'll continue to tear. i hope not!

It's slightly reassuring that so many other people suffer from the same problem. Misery loves company, right?
I'm 24 and have been having this issue for probably about a year now. I can't stress enough how important it is for everyone to have a doctor check it out, I'm not saying they'll help (they sure didn't in my case) but its necessary to rule out STIs. Along with the majority of posters on here I also tested negative for herpes. They however didn't have any helpful suggestions.
I've figured out a few things on my own...
- Certain birth control pills are linked to vaginal atrophy (thinning of the tissue) my tears started a couple months after I went on yasmin and have become a lot better since I stopped
- hydrocortisone and other topical steroids may stop the inflammation (swelling/irritation) initially but continual use of these substances will result in thinning of the tissue which is really counterproductive. Please be careful with how frequently you use these creams
- Yeast build-up and allergies (i.e. laundry detergent/ fabric softener) will make the tissue more delicate
- Latex condoms or overly tight ones can increase friction in the area and lead to tears
- I've found being on top or lying on my side to be the best positions for sex since they change the area that gets the most friction (I get tears right at the botttom towards my backside)
- I also can't stress foreplay enough, women are like ovens we need to be preheated
Hope you all find some answers and solutions that work :)
