i don't think it's that rare actually. i have read on this forum of several people how got negative urine tests for a long time. if your period is normally regular, and this has never happened to you, you may want to ask for a blood test. if they resist, explain your other symptoms, and tell them that you are concerned that if it's not pregnancy then something else is going on with your hormones.
It did take a longer time with my first PG for a HPT to show up positve, but I just found out I am pregnant w/#2, and it showed up after only being a week late this time. Definately get into your docs soon to get a blood test. Could be a hormonal thing...
Ah, the infamous "it didn't turn positive until I was 5 months" stories.
Yes, they abound the internet and every single community on earth. In fact, it IS rare not to test positive if you have enough HCG in your system to be detected at the appropriate times, by the appropriate tests.
There can be many reasons for the stories, which typically happen to "this girl I know", or someone else.
The fact is, if you have a healthy normal pregnancy, and you test AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME and have enough HCG to be detected by the test you are using, it will be positive.
If you keep getting negatives and don't get your period, see your doctor to find out why.
I would insist on a blood test. I have a friend and with all three of her children the urine test came up neg. She had to have the blood test to show she was preg.
I would get a blood test. If you really can't wait two weeks call the Dr. back and get the blood test.
