Weaning off Atenonol 50mg

by Wapride, Oct 24, 2009 12:35PM
I am a 36 yo female who was put on Atenonol 50mg 3 months ago for birth control pill related high blood pressure. I was taking BC pills for excessive, heavy periods and had only been on them 2 months.  I started feeling sick almost immediately after starting BC....had no idea it was BP.   I have chosen to go off the birth control pill because it caused my high blood pressure and having to take ANOTHER pill just wasn't something I wanted to do. I have been off BC pill for 2 months now, but am still on the Atenonol because I don't know how to go off of it.  I know I don't need it anymore!!!  My BP was always 110/70 before going on the BC pill..then it jumped to 162/110 on the BC pill.  I check it every day, morning noon and night since starting Atenonol, and it is almost always either 100/69 or 100/70.
Questions:
How do I wean off?
What is the wean off period / how gradual do I have to go?

Thanks in advance for advice and help!
