I would just like to say, I have 2 kids already, my first i was sick every morning with out fail till bout 14wks, it was part of my daily routine, then with my second, i was slightly sick but not everyday, it was loads better than the first, and that subsided about 12 wks, now i found out i was pregnant at 4 wks, didn't have any symptoms at all, no goin to the loo more often no sickness no sore breasts nothing, apart from my missed period, so i was worried that maybe something was wrong. then about wk5 started feeling sick during the day, but not all the time, mainly in the afternoon early evening, then week6 i was feeling rough and tired all day from the minute i woke up to the second i fell asleep, now I'm 7wks and 3 days and i am actually throwing up in the morning, but not alot as i obviously haven't eaten at that point, sometimes it is just heaving, which makes me feel alot better, but for the rest of the day i feel really yucky and exhausted, but i remembered from my first pregnancy when cold air on my face made me want to throw up even more, i started sucking spearmint polos, or not a strong mint sweet but a gentle flavour, and i was fine....it doesn't take the feeling away completely but for a little while you get a little relief which i find helps a great deal, so try that and see how you get on.

Sorry to waffle, but just thought it might help if i explained my situation.

Thanks

You could try acupuncture for the morning sickness.

w/ me nothing but time helped :) So know that it will hopefully get better, once I get over the sickness I feel healthier pg than when I'm not :) ALso when sick it's so easy to get more nervous about having a baby (or it was this way for me) but childbirth didn't have the n/v with it for me it was more of a breeze than the 1st trim sickness,so hope yours goes well too:)

The only thing that really helped with my nausea is gingerale. I tried crackers and other things but the gingerale really helped.

Food always settled my sickness for a while. Which is probably why I have put on so much weight.

Tiredness is very normal too, your baby is developing and your energy is being used to make this little thing into a full grown baby.

It is so exciting.

Taking your prenatals at night also helps. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and the rest of your first trimester (the sickness should ease after the first trimester).

I havent experienced pregnancy myself (my DH and I will probably try in about 6 months - we are currently living in different parts of the country so its hard to try right now ;) .

Anyway, a friend of mine experienced severe nausea/vomiting during her 2 pregnancies.  Her doctor ended up prescribing her some strong antinausea pills - the kind that are used for chemo patients.  Apparently the pills were about $70 each "before" insurance but were essentially free with insurance and allevated all her symptoms - I dont know the name of the pills though.  Both her kids were born healthy and I would assume these pills do not cause any ill effects on the growing fetus or her doctor would not have prescribed them.
If the suggestions of the other ladies dont help  (ginger, eating regular small meals, saltines, vitamins at night etc.) you can always ask your doctor about the suitability of prescibed antinausea medicine

I agree about ginger.  I would buy some crystallized ginger and eat a few pieces throughout the day.  If you're buying ginger ale, treat yourself to the good stuff from a health food store.  It actually contains ginger and is delicious.

having some saltines before you even get out of bed and the ginger is a big help. you can buy ginger in many forms and you will just have to try to see what helps. ginger ale, ginger snaps, fresh ginger, candied ginger. of course there are some that nothing will help but getting out of the first trimester! sorry you are so sick hope it goes away quickly for you.

With 2 of my pregnancies I ended up in the hospital multiple time because I could just not stop throwing up. That isn't the norm though. But with me I used sea-bands. Those seemed to help some. You can get them at  any store or drug store.
And ginger helps. Try ginger tea or ginger cookies. Really anything with ginger. With my last pregnancy my Dr. had me take a half of a unisom sleeping pill to help with the nausa. But talk to your Dr. first before you do that. If you have a lot of saliva that makes you sick try chewing on some gum or a mint.

And this one might be weird, but go buy a bunch of fresh cut lemons and smell them when you are feeling sick and when you smell something that makes you sick. It really really helps!!

The above posters are right, eat small meals all day. Never let your belly get empty. Try and stay away from harsh foods like spicy, anything will a strong taste.

Good luck! I feel for you!!!

I tired salty crakers and chips b4 but they would only stop thos symptomes for a while n then the nausea comes back again:(
well i guess i just have to get throgh the first 3 month at least to feel a bit beter.
Why men dnt get to go throgh all that sikness and stuff that poor women have to go, so not fair! Would be fair if we get pregnant but they get sick till we have babe lol:)

The nausea and exhaustion are definitely normal symptoms, so no need to be alarmed.  I know it's still very frustrating though.  I would definitely try eating small meals throughout the day, and maybe even some sprite or 7up.  (I think 7up has less sugar in it, so that might be better than sprite.)

Hope ths morning sickness passes quickly!

Take your prenatals at NIGHT instead of in the morning since they have a tendency to cause nausea.

Eat a small snack at least once per hour ... it doesn't have to be a lot, but make sure you have a little something (i.e. teddy grams, goldfish crackers, saltines, carrot stick, etc.).

I have also always heard that mint helps ease nausea. I would say that it is worth a try also.

Good luck! Hope you feel better soon!
