What causes Vaginal Itching and odour?

My vulva has been itching for a week now. It started on the first day of my menstral period, after the menses I've realised discharge all smells. What could be the possible cause?

It sounds like you may have bacterial vaginosis.  You can get some gel or pessaries from the pharmacy that you put inside yourself for 7 days and it will clear the infection.  I have had this a couple of times myself.  The first time I took antibiotics but the subsequent times I decided to go for the gel or the pessaries because I found them less embarrassing than going to the doctor and having a swab taken and talking about it.
