What causes some one to bleed for a month straight?

Ok I'm posting for a good friend who doesn't have internate access. i'm really worried and she doesn't seem to be. She's a 34 year old women with 3 kids. She hasn't stopped bleeding for a month straight. She says this is the first time it has ever happened to her. She made a oppt. with her doctor and all they would do was a urine test because her doctor will not exzamine while bleeding. Her urine test came back as a urinary track infection and she was put on meds. I told her she NEEDS to find another doctor. But she is hard headed and really likes her doctor. (She's had the same doctor for 15 years). what could cause one to bleed non stop like that. She says it varies from day to day from heavy to spotting, but back and forth. Does any one have any ideas?

Not an answer but I am 30 years old.had a norm period my whole life,until past yr.first time I had it for 45 days...went to ER cuz I have no insurance.i got an ultrasound inside,and on the outside,an mri/catscan,and blood testing done and they found nothing!told me I needed to follow up w gyno. Which I couldn't do...
3 weeks later started bleeding again,this time going on 90 days non stop,mostly heavy,and I am passing blood clots every single time I pee.now i am getting dizzy spells,nauseated, and headaches every other day.Do I go to ER again???I do have endometriosis and interstitial cystitis...and my grandmother died of cervical cancer.i am starting to get worried :(

I'm in the same boat as you... Always haf normal and regulated periods, and a few months ago I was over 3 weeks late....thought that maybe I was pregnant (but had my tubes tied 3 years ago) and went for bloodwork. Definitely wasn't pregnant. Now, at 31, my period is going into day 26 very heavy flow and passing clots (big ones!) When going to the bathroom. My ob/gyn prescribed birth control and says it could be hormonal... Has anyone been given a straight answer about this??

I for one need help,I booke for appointment at the gynecologist,am 21 years of age I have 1daughter gave birth 7 months ago. I started bleeding on the 8th of December while I was having sexual intercours with my fiancé till today on the 3rd of January am still bleeding and have lower back pains and some pains on my cervix.i don't know what might be the cause am even afraid of what the doctor will say or rather the outcome of the results

Did you get answers? I've been bleeding at least 28 days at a time with my periods since June. Then stop a week and start again. I've went to the doctors when it started and he didn't do anything or take it serious. I'm 19 with one kid. I've been bleeding since November 20th 2016. With only 2 days off in December and 2 days off this month so far. Tonight I thought I had stopped. (Just the yucky brown stuff has been coming today & then outta nowhere it was gray!) I just hate going to the doctor and they don't take me serious cause I'm young.

Anything from PCOS to fibroids to hormones is what I was just told today. I'm 31 years old, have 2 kids, and had a tubal after my last one (3 years ago) and have been bleeding heavily for 25 days. Passing clots while going tovthe bathroom and being constantly fatigued is tough with a house full of boys! I'm on the hunt for more answers as this has ruined a lot of pants and underwear, and messing with our love life! Stay strong, ladies!

Hey everyone I;m having similar problems and I;m so scared...Im 26. I;ve had irregular periods since I can remember...I;m currently spotting right now been spotting since Sept 5. I think I had 2 normal periods in between. Before the 5th I didn;t see my period for 2 months.... I see the most evidence of spotting in the toilet and when I wipe....pink/brown spotting...I had 1 abnormal pap 3 years ago but I followed up and no HPV so they said I should be fine....going to get checked out tomorrow I hope everything is ok....really wish I can stop spotting I hate this...not good for my anxiety

Iam 33 and I've been on my period none stop for almost 10 months sometimes it's dark very dark and sometimes it's super bright red, I also get like stomach pain it almost feels like cramps but it ain't cramp hard to explain. I've been trying to get pregnant and with this happening isn't helping at all... been married for 2 years and it has ruined my and my husband sex life. Any suggestions? I have been to the doctors and everything comes out good... but how can it be good if my bleeding doesn't stop.

Hello i am 34 last month I was for the whole of a week can back on this and still on do any one know what is wrong. When I use the bathroom sometimes blood come out or went I stand in the shower blood dippers out. What is wrong.

Happy to know that I am not the only one here. Okay, before I start let have a small self-intro I am 23, unmarried. Suffering the same problem, my last period lasted for 37 straight days which was really hard to tolerate. My periods are always late since my first period when I was 13. My Usual cycle is min. 2 months and max. 3 months but 2 years ago I had my periods after 3 months which lasted for straight 30 days I went to my Dr. he gave me birth control pill to stop the bleeding and then usual Estrogen medicines to maintain the regularity. It did work for next 2 months after that it started again being unusual I took medication from 3 more Dr. but nothing helped. Now, I am having late periods and also bleeding lasts for more than 30 days but my Dr. says it normal and gave me Estrogen tablets which affected my skin and started having pimples. It is really something wrong inside which we have no idea about. I masturbate sometimes which gives an immense pleasure. Right now going through skin treatment and has been recommended to visit a gyno for the same. Looking for someone to help. Worried if it could affect my pregnancy or married life.

While looking for help for an estrogen question I happened upon this thread.  You are so right, bleeding for a month is not normal.  I would try to get another opinion.

I;m 26 I have one child, I'm asking for some advice. When I was 16 I started using the depo shot, and stopped when.I.was 19 than was on the birth.control patch found out I was allergic to it and than.found.out I was pregnant. After I had her I had the shot again and than.stopped treatments in 2014 because my husband to be and I have been trying.to conceive a baby but I have missed several periods because of the depo shot than in October I had spotting for a couple of days than it went to really heavy and that lasted about 20 days, I'm guessing that was a normal period to get excess blood.out of my system.but now I'm 2 weeks late for my period and I've been feeling flutters in my stomach constantly I try and get him to see if.he can feel them but he just looks at me like I'm crazy, could I be pregnant or is it just me wishing I am?

Hi, I'm a 35 yr old female have no children , in November 2015 I had my first long cycle lasting 12 days then off 2 and started back for another 14 days . Shortly afterwards a few weeks I had my first anxiety attack. now it is April 8, 2016 and ive been on my cycle since mar. 14, 2016. it started light like it just spotted about 5 days then heavy and then light and occasional spoting but it has been consistant. now I am heavy and its almost the turn around for my next cycle. tispast week I have had 3 anxiety attacks. its weird I'm not under stress mentally I suppose just my body possibly. I mean of course I'm concerned about the issue at hand. But no one seems to be able to tell me what is causing this. They say everything seems ok just have several cysts and they say that not big. Cannot seem to get a straight answer . But I don't care .....this is not normal!!! I'm am weak seem to be tired a lot and my stomach hurts everyday just about it. I'm am at my wits end and don't know what to do. Dear God help me.

Hi I'm 30 years old,got two kids. I got merina coil fitted in. This is first time ever happened to me,I'm on from a month straight I was really heavy and was in pain. Periods are bit light now but still bleeding blood is like fresh red blood. Had my blood test last week got iron deficiency as well. Dull Pains in my lower abdominal all the time with periods or without. Really worried. If anyone who have an idea  what is happening  with me :(

Wow, I am only 28 and also presumed I was the only one. I’ve been bleeding for a month straight. I don't want to go in because 3yrs ago I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Now, I’m not ready to hear any more bad news from my Drs , at least not before I have a chance to hear the infinite amount of possibilities.  The onset of menopause sounds the most promising.

I don't know if this thread is still going but I had the same problem with the irregular cycles and was diagnosed some years back with polycystic ovarian syndrome. I recently had surgery on the 28th of September everything went well my Dr removed two very large cyst and a tumor from my ovaries. As of Oct 12 still today I have had bleeding from heavy to spotting and was told that I'm severely anemic so I hope this helps someone.

Not sure if this thread is still running but I'll give it a shot. 26 year old Female with Lupus. I've had irregular bleeding (2 periods a month) since April. Blood work, Pap smear & ultrasound all came back normal. He said a very tiny cyst on the left ovary but not anything that would be causing this (so he thinks). Dr wants me to get an IUD since lupus patients can't go on birth control to stop the bleeding. I don't want an IUD..I'm afraid for future pregnancy risks. In October I bled (heavily) every day but 3. Still going in November. I made myself an appointment at a specialist in NYC I go in 2 weeks, and am very nervous. My dr and family and friends are claiming this is hormonal....hormonal or not it's really interfering in my life and needs to stop! Any other autoimmune patients on here? Or any advice would be amazing, thank you!

I'm 35, I have 3 kids and had my tubes tied 10 years ago after the birth of my last child...I was told by my doctor I can NOT take birth control or hormones due to my high risk of blood clots... I have been having the same problem off and on for 4 months it started with me getting my period that lasts 7 days i would get a week off then it would come back for a week for 3 months with this cycle. Now I have had it for 14 days straight and still have it, i went to the doctor she did a urine test which came back normal, my pap came back normal. she did blood work found out I am extremely anemic due to so much blood loss, and I have an appointment for a non-ob pelvic ultrasound and a transvaginal ultrasound coming up this tuesday... I'm very worried. I will keep you posted when the results come in.

I am a 36 year old female 3 kinds tubes tied with day 28 of my period, I went to the dr 2 weeks ago they did a pap, biopsy, internal ultrasound, external ultrasound, and lab work.  they sent me home with megesterone (hormone) pills to take and I could increase up to 3 tabs a day which I do take.  The pap was abnormal, biopsy was normal, labs were normal, but I do have a small uterine fibroid.  I sent my doc an email just now to see if we can do a PET/CT or something to find out where is the bleed exactly and how to stop the bleed.  I hope this info somewhat helps.
