Kathy i truly know how you feel, been dealing with the same issues for over a year. Nothin i have tried has helped the endo or PCOS symptoms from consuming my life. I'm going to have my hyst done 12-28 and i'm only 31. My best advice to you is hysterectomyHysterectomy Hysterectomy - series is a huge life changing decision and sadly has no guaruntee of taking away all endo issues. However pain consuming your life is life changing as well. Discuss your options with your dr and get a 2nd opinion if you don't feel comfortable with this dr's opinions. Most important talk to your DH and help him understand what you are going through. My endo issues led to me being divorced because he didn't understand i hurt to bad and didn't feel well.
I am sorry to hear you are also going through this & that your H couldn't be more understanding. Mine says he is trying to but....actions speak louder. I guess I have a big (possibly life altering) decision ahead of me. It seems as though more & more womenWomen's way are getting ovarian cysts, etc. from all the info I have been reading (just found the Med-Help ovarian cancer forum). Kinda makes you wonder if it has to do w/all the hormones/pesticides, etc. manufacturers are putting into our food/milk these days! I will seek a 2nd opinion, however, I don't believe there are any other options (aside from hormones which obviously haven't been working for me). Did you try hormones?
Good luck w/ your hyst. & let me know how you are after.

I have tried it all, from the age of 19 until now. If the doctor thought it might help i took it. when one failed i went straight to another one. Trying to get the pain liveable. My dr gave me the option of going back through some of the options i had already tried, but the pain is so life consuming for me i just told him to take it out. I'm to the point lately where even showering takes a toll on me. I wish you the best in your decision and hope it doesn't come to surgery unless it's really needed. My dr and i have tried to avoid it at all cost for me but sadly it hasn't worked.
You poor thing! You have been going through this since you were 19? I believe I have had these cysts for a while, the endo too. From the time I started my pd.(at age 10!!!) I have always had very painful pds. I remember the school nurse & teachers making me feel as though I was trying to get out of class! It seems from what I have been reading on the OVC forum that most Women w/cysts e/up having a hyst. That is too sad. I wish there was another way of preserving womenhood! I'm sure a man would not like to be castrated, which is basically what a total hyst is for a woman! I wish med. science could find an alternative for us. It's not fair...we have to go through sooo many physically painful things in life. Some are rewarding though(like having kiddos) I have three. I had my tubes tied in 95, only to get pregnant in 02(what a shocker!). It was ecpt. so they removed both tubes. Now this! Thanks for your input.

I started mine at age 9 and always had pain, i also was told it was normal, grin and bear it, it's all in your head. Wasn'y until a new ob/gyn came in to my town i was diagnosed after 12 yrs of the pain and being told i was normal. I personally have not had any children due to the endo and the PCOS. I tried the clomid to no success either.
Hi, I'm dealing with Ovarian cysts right now. I had a laparoscopy in October (thinking pain I was having in pelvic area was endom.). The doctor who performed lapro said he saw that my right fallopian tube was "stuck" to the back of my uterus. At the time he noticed a "small funtional cyst" on my right ovary. A couple weeks after lapo, I was STILL having alot of pain in pelvic area. Went in for my 4 weeks post-op and Dr. said he could feel a cyst on L ovary. Sent me for ultrasound, sure enough, a cyst 7cm on L ovary. I was so frustrated at this point because I was in so much pain, and JUST HAD SURGERY, only to be talking about having surgery again for this huge cyst. The doctor told me to wait a week, have another ultrasound to see if cyst was shrinking. Sure enough, it went down to 4cm. Relieved I opted not to have surgery to have it removed. Well, last week, the pain and pressure started coming back. As bad at it was. I am having another ultrasound tomorrow to see whats going on. And suggestions on if the cyst is back and still big if I should have surgery. I also have one on R ovary as well. don't know the size of that one yet. Is anyone fed up with doctors as much as I am? I'm tired of these doctors making me feel like a "complainer" or a "nuisance." I've never had a cyst rupture before though. sounds painful.
best advice anyone can give you is do what is right for you personally. I have been fed up with dr's for yrs until i found the one that diagnosed me and was willing to help me. I had to make my own choice for the hysterectomy i'm having done, dr didn't push me thankfully. Just do what feels right for you in your situation, noone knows what u feel better than you do and as for the dr's making u feel like a complainer tell them ur going to complain until they fix it.
I also had a severe cyst that ruptured and landed me in the hospital with Morphine. It hurt terribly and would not wish that pain on anyone. I also had endometriosis and my doc put my on continous BCP and I have been pain free since 2002. I just discontinued the pill this July to TTC and still pain free. I would give the BCP a chance. They take a full 3 months to get into your system and work effectively.
I also had 2 surgeries with the last one being Dec 2002.
Thanks, I actually found that thread after I posted on here. I have been looking on there & it is very informative. This forum is great! Everyone is so helpful & kind.
Here it is 2 am & the pain has woken me again! I feel like I could die. Why does it hurt sooo much more at night? It seems like the smallest things trigger pain. Heidi I'm in the same boat as you. Just had lap surgery in Oct. also. Apparently these things can "pop" up over night & it seems like it takes forever for them to go away. Or at least the pain from them. I JUST WISH THE PAIN WOULD END!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe a hyst is the only option. 1 month of BC didn't work for me. Doc wants to try a sronger one!!! Ovcon 35 i think its called.
Good luck w/ your hyst. & let me know how you are after.
